The afternoon hearing at the Army Court of Criminal Appeals in Virginia was called to address Hasan's continued refusal to shave before court appearances, the Army said.
The military psychiatrist is accused of opening fire three years ago at the Texas Army post's processing center, where soldiers were preparing to deploy to Afghanistan and Iraq.
The attack left 13 dead and 32 people wounded. Hasan was paralyzed from the waist down after police exchanged fire with him.
His court-martial tied to the shooting had been scheduled to start in August. But the Army Court of Criminal Appeals had delayed its start indefinitely to determine whether the suspect's beard can be forcibly shaved during trial.
This guy has not stood trial for acts of terrorism committed in 2009 that resulted in the murder of 13 American soldiers and there is going to be further delay because they are arguing about shaving his f*cking beard!?!?!?!
If he was a soldier who killed 2 Afghani civilians, he would have been tried, convicted and sentenced by now.
Its crap like this that makes me want to just get out of the military and leave it all behind for good. There is just no justice anymore; no sense of right and wrong. This country has simply gone mad.
They should forcibly shave his head from his neck.

The problem with the beard is that this guy is still considered a MAJ in the US Army, so he has to comply with US Army grooming regs. But to drag this thing out for years over it? They should amend the regs for a week, and then once the guy is sentenced to death after a speedy trial, change them back.
Would a senior officer have the power to waive the reg in order to move the trial forward? I mean come on! There has to be a loophole. Try him out of uniform, transfer him to the Navy... something!
Then why wouldn't every asshole praise Allah and refuse to shave in order to put off the date before the court?

put him in a general population prision in the wing that hold mostly bikers and white power idiots.

Most outsiders assumed from Hasan's name, his parents' Palestinian background, and his business card tagline of "Soldier of Allah", that he was Muslim. The judge, Col. Jeffrey Tribley, pressed Hasan for more information on this discrepancy.
"Yes sir. I am Muslim and Amish," Hasan responded. "This of course means that my beard is two-times as important to my religion, and under religious exceptions in the UCMJ, it is required."
According to the Duffel Blog's legal analysts, the case for Hasan's beard is strong.
"Yeah bro, seriously. He's definitely got a strong argument for the beard," said Barracks Lawyer PFC Evan Rodriguez. "I'm pretty sure he can claim this whole trial is hazing and get it thrown out too."
But some detractors say this latest diversion distracts from the real issues.
"The fact that we have to sit here and see news stories over and over about this man's beard when he's on trial for murder is lunacy," said CSM Robert Altman. "What are some of the more important issues at stake here that many have been ignoring? Well, here's a few: he hasn't worn his dogtags in months. I've seen him in white socks on quite a few occasions."
"I mean really, white socks. This son of a bitch needs to be executed for that. Let the Army make an example out of him, right?," added Altman.
Lawyers for Hasan continue to press for beard leniency, but have said that if he is forcibly shaved, they will motion to dismiss the case on the grounds that their client would be "forced to endure a hate crime."

To drag this out for 3 years because he refuses to shave his beard is a complete and utter insult. What a fucking joke.
Do we really even need a trial? Take this guy out back and hang him and be done with it already.

Having done military time long ago I can just sigh and say
that this is just another example why it is a good thing that
we have civilian government with all its attendant flaws.
An important trial cannot proceed because an organisation
is hogtied by its own regulations and unable to improvise
to meet a situation which is not exactly unimaginable.
Our lessons from military history tell us the importance of
flexibility and improvisation but the peace time army is incapable
of such unorthodoxy. Webel ist webel has been proven to not be
a defence. On the other hand screaming for execution before a fair
trial is bad form. The way the Army is handling this you have to wonder
if they caught the right guy.
