20 hours until the season premier.
we need to establish the opening episode drinking game and the game for the season.
we can start with:
1. take a drink every time a walker gets killed.
2. if T-dog lives until the end of an episode finish whatever drink you have.

Just wait until you get to the end of the 2nd season. :)
I'd say drink until the characters are likable but I don't think there's enough vodka in the world.
Go zombies!
STFU Carl!
Drink whenever Lori and Rick can't find Carl because you know, they just let their kid wander around the Zombie Apocalypse unsupervised.
There is some prime va jay jay in The Walking Dead. If the zombie apocalypse is going to have those kind of hotties survive...it may not be so bad.
I'm sitting just counting the minutes - 26 to go!

Great episode. Lots of good zombie kills!
Oh and one more thing. Riot gear zombies are just awesome!
New episode starting now!
this season if fraking awesome!
is been a few great years for my taste in tv.

You just named my top 4 shows. And all four would make my personal list of 10 best/favorite series
ever. The Bachelor, Dancing With the Stars and Big Brother did NOT make the list, thankyouverymuch.
Liked it so much I posted the same message twice!!!
my problem is the lack of the space soap opera sci-fi show.
Im pretty sure Honor Harrington would make a damn good
long term show. it would be even better if it was done in CGI
like the Clone Wars is done. and thats become a dame good
show itself.
Yeah, agreed. They are supposedly making a HH movie, you know. I haven't heard anything about it in awhile. Of course, the other series which would make my Top Ten is Battlestar Galactica, of course! What a lineup 8)

I'd add Strike Back to the list.
I'd like to see HBO or Showcase redo "Space: Above & Beyond".

you havnt read the comics have you?
Nope. But I do listen to Geektime. They've had Robert Kirkman on. He said that the TV show will, and has deviated from the comic. Take Shane, he lived longer on the TV show than he did in the comic.
It was also made clear that no TV show character is sacred. Anyone could be zombie food at any time despite what has happened in the comics.
oh they deviate from the comic a lot! but some things are just going to happen.
and every character is up for grabs except Rick and Carl.
So how long do you give Lori? Please tell me that her demise is coming soon!!

Just read a Wiki synopsis, including the story about The Governor. Should be a great season!
I am only in season two but it is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows. I am really growing to actually like Daryl! Also like the hot farmer's daughter, for those who remember.
Boardwalk Empire is by far my current favorite, though.
I like the concept of Boardwalk far more than the execution of Boardwalk.
I miss Jimmy, and Steve Buscemi looks too sickly to be an effective hero. And there's far too goddam much of Margaret in EVERY episode.
Come on Buscemi rocks! So what if he looks like a stubbed out cigarette! Agreed on Margaret. My favorite character is Arnold Rothstein...it is refreshing to see a jew portrayed as an intimidating godfather and not a little worm, like Woody Allen.
I love Boardwalk Empire, but it's behind Sons, The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad with me, in exactly that order. The common factor with each is outstanding writing and characters who are not black and white cutouts. It's a golden age for great drama series, boys.

I haven't read them as I don't want to spoil anything coming up in the show. However, after the show is gone I plan on reading them all.
the show differs from the comic to a GREAT degree.
in the comic Shane dies in the 3rd issue and Carl just blows his brains out.

I have to watch Breaking Bad on demand. It's a great show, but there are many "atmosphere" scenes with no dialogue, or long scenes with silent activity. I can fast forward through those scenes (or any scenes involving the wife and kid, unless the brother-in-law is also in the scenes... he's a DEA agent) and watch the meat (the gangster shit) of an episode in a half-hour.
Same with Boardwalk. As soon as Margaret comes on the screen, I hit fast forward.
But I watch (almost) every second of SOA... same with Dexter.
I watch my big 5 favorite shows all on demand, mostly through Amazon. I don't watch a lot of tv and in fact cut the cable five years ago and don't miss it. So the expense of a season is less than a month of cable. No interruptions and I can re-watch the best scenes again (whoa, did he really hit that dude in the head with a hatchet!?!?) over and over again. Oh and not to mention, I can turn on captions when Chibs says something on Sons, ha!
New episode on tonight! We should get some more of Andrea and Michone's story I believe.
^and the first meeting with the Governor, I believe.
Stop teasing me like that you cads. I won't be able to watch the season you're in right now for probably at least another 6 months.

Oh man....I won't be watching it until around midnight thirty when it downloads to Amazon. Most shows, I wait until there is a full season so I can marathon watch as many as I like, but The Walking Dead and Sons....gaaah, it's hard to wait even a week!
shits gettin real yo'!
I think that, so far, I am enjoying this season more than the others, with the possible exception of the first couple of episodes of season 1.
^Agreed. This is a helluva intense season. Last nights episode was just insane.
I used to find myself fast-forwarding through a good portion of each episode. These days I barely fast forward at all.
Wow these last two weeks have been heavy hitters.
Without spoiling it for those of us who have not read the graphic novel, who do you guys think is on the other end of the phone?
having read the comics i can assure you that no one is on the phone. welcome to the head trip.
Now that was a great ending!
This is more last season than this season, but thought I would share this little find:
Ten Reasons Why The Walking Dead Should Kill Off Carl
1. Carl, stay in the house.
2. Seriously, Carl. Stay in the house.
3. Carl, I don't want to yell but it's the middle of the zombie apocalypse and we're going to need you to stay close by.
4. Okay, buddy. Can you be a good little sheriff and stay put? I don't know, guard the living room. Yes, okay here's a special hat and you are officially on duty to protect the couch cushions. Just stay in the house.
5. Carl, I'd ground you but it seems a bit trite what with the hordes of Zombies outside trying to eat our faces.
6. Remember what happened when another little kid wandered off alone? You were here for that.
7. It's great you're keeping your childish rebellion alive but if one of the bad guys gets you, Daddy is going to have to shoot you in the head.
8. Please, Carl. Just stay here. I'll be right back. Protect the couch cushions. Make some lunch. Get back to doing that math homework we inexplicably cared about 4 episodes ago.
9. Carl, I'm not eff'ing around. Please, Carl. Just stay in the house! Do this one eff'ing thing. Just stay in the house for the next 5 minutes.
10. HAS ANYONE SEEN CARL?? HE'S NOT IN THE HOUSE!!!
Screw killing Carl. That vaginal discharge Andrea must die! I hope Merle prostetically fists her to death.

That'd be inevitable, so long as both are alive and aware of the other's whereabouts.

Great episode tonight! I agree Glenn and Carl are really coming into their own. As always Andrea needs to die a painful death because she is basically worthless. Its going to be a long wait until Feb. when the new episodes come on.
I knew this Cain and Able shit would go down.
I hope the Blue team didnt exfil far enough to go back and interniene.

Will Carl be man enough to standup to his dad, or maybe even put a bullet in his head.
Seriously why is Andrea still alive? I just can't stand her character. And Michonne needs to actually start talking to people. I want to like her character but she is just getting frustrating.
Also I thought it was very well done watching Rick go off the deep end again. Very unsettling scene.

I tried to run that past Star, but he knew better 8) I have to agree. I grew up in Texas and always thought Texas was southern because they fought for the right side Confederacy in the Civil War. Then I spent four years in Mississippi. After a very brief time there I was forced to conclude that indeed, Texas is not a southern state. Point settled.
Actually, in many ways Texas and Arizona have more in common than not. Maybe that's why I'm so comfortable in both places.

I really enjoyed tonight's episode.
*Spoilers*
I really enjoyed the simplicity of it, using just the four characters. And it was nice to see Michonne come out of her shell this episode.
I agree - it was a good episode. Rick was even sane....
it was VERY good.
Carl is a little born again hard bad ass.
Last night's episode was definitely my favorite of S3 so far. I hope it proves that you don't need your entire cast in an episode and that they definitely need to flesh out Michonne.
The fewer the better it seems........
IMHO this week's episode was such a good contrast to last week's slog through Andrea's soap opera.
Andrea is hot. Zombie is not so hot. tits are hanging and grey. But Andrea not so much hanging but blossoming even though she is as old as some forum members here. but still i rather spend myself at her then in the Zombie.
I'm glad you clarified that :D
Andrea is a pain in the ass.

I liked the reception Andrea got last week at the prison. Seemed to surprise her, but she had it coming.
And this weeks episode was an ass kicker. I'm starting to think that "Stay in the House" Carl might live to a ripe old age in the Zombie Apocalypse.
I also liked the surprise guest star, although I wish his story had turned out better for him than it did.
Oh, and the hiker....that was poignant.
Yeah - the Hiker was a nice little touch.... now what was that about Andrea's ass ???? ;)
there is a sad and untold story to all of this. a harsh world and not many of women around? what shall a brave man do?
tons of rather slow and braindamaged ersatz material to chose from. just throw them half rotten dog leg and watch them kneel and then you will know too what this cold fish sensation is that everybody talks about. shall we condemn them? brave men like Hershel and Slaak? they did not violate a poor women nor did they perform necrophilia? a dog leg for a boner, who is there to judge this in a worlf like this?
ok then....
am I the only person to watch this show and think its a documentry on what NOT to do?
I think it is a soap opera, a kick-ass soap, but a soap nonetheless.
PS
The legend endures.
Four episodes left in this season apparently, and if the sneak peek into next week's episode, I have a feeling things are either going to get wrapped up in a messy fashion or things might get dragged on. Season 2 still has sour taste in my mouth.
IDK about that. a lot of interesting stuff happened in s2. it just seemed to drag on when it first aired.
Yeah, the final two episodes at Herschal's farm kicked butt. The zombie herd and Herschel's shotgun stand were classics.
the zeds in the barn with Sophia was a hell of an episode. having Rick step up and shoot her in the head was brilliant.
Daryl messed up in the woods. Glenn getting laid. the standoff at the bar. lots of good stuff but the babymommadrama really screwed with the overall feel of it.

No I am purposely not reading them as I don't it want it to spoil any of the show. However, I look forward to one day reading them when they are far enough into the TV show.

Yep. I've read them all and have the next one pre-ordered from Amazon ;D
ok
so we at least know theyve scrambled the comics storyline to hell and back.
Yeah, I don't even try to guess which way they are going to jump. Case in point: Tyreese
Here is a site that covers all things Walking Dead, comics, series and games: http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/The_Walking_Dead_Wiki (http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/The_Walking_Dead_Wiki)
Yeah I am definitely glad they've changed from the comic book in some regards. Although you can definitely see some callbacks or acknowledgements to the comic RE: Merle's hand.
if you aint disfigured in the Walking Dead you aint shit.

I was expecting some sort of gimmick character or someone off the wall like most 90's shows had. These are great!
kills by character and weapon up to the the mid season break:

for the record the forum participations for this show sucks. I expect more.
despite your newest post: what a great grafic! did you read the comic book too?
I can't say I am surprised someone sat down and complied that graphic. It is very cool to see it all laid out like that.
Oh and Andrea still needs to die. That is all.
read the comicbook and give up your hopes. we will see a lot more of her sexy ass.
Good episode last night. They're certainly setting things up for a helluva finish.
yes Ive read the comics. in fact I read that latest issue last night. it would seem Andrea and Michonne have switch places as per the comic story line.
Last week was one of those like the previous week or so when there were just a few main characters, no one else was seen. I think the only person at the person we saw was Rick.
Ill take it as a given that the whole group was at the prison. only Rick needed to have screen time. having worked in film and tv production I have a little understanding of budget problems vs story line vs post production. one of the things I loved about the BSG poscasts was the producers explanation of the who/why/what. its a shame the Walking Dead gave up such a healthy chunk of its budget for Mad Men.
that was pretty frikin harsh.
That was pretty rough but a good episode.
Also that was a heck of a way to ring shop for Glen. :)
my brother is my best friend. I couldnt imagine having to do that.
really good Talking Dead.
Damn fine episode.... who was the special guest on the Talking Dead ? I didn't get to see it ?
Michael Rooker ie Merle
That was harsh and amazing and some damn fine acting by the whole crew. This show keeps ramping it up, getting better and better. I can't even guess how this season is going to end at this point.
Ok, this is just tooo good......spoiler alert if you haven't been watching the series (but then, why would you be reading this thread?).

Carl is double born again HARD!
October how I hate thee.
Great episode tonight.
*spoilers*
Glad to finally see Andrea die. Carl is going off the deep end, not sure how I feel about this. And the Gov. is still out there ... it will be interesting to see how that comes back to haunt them.
I dont think Carl went or is going off the deep end. he frakin gets its. from my perspective that kid was shifty with how he was walking forward and "handing' the gun over. good shoot in my book considering the circumstances.

I wont disagree with that.
I'll just say,
WOW!!!
Talking dead, Daryl is on wearing a pullover sweater and tie!
and while I love the show I think its best as viewed as a what NOT to do during the zombie outbreak.
and FWIW the show is no waaaaaaaay of the comics. so if you were holding off on reading them to not spoil the show dont worry. you can find them on youtube. the walking dead issue # whatever will take you there.
SPOILER!!!!
At first I was surprised to see Rick and Co. bring the survivors of Woodbury back with them, then I realized that when the Gov. comes back, that he would know the way around there and not the prison. Plus, I think the prison has a generator so they get get some heat for the winter.
I'm just glad that stupid bitch Andrea is finally dead.
so is the rest of the world/interwebs.
it would be nice if amc got a frikin clue and released between series movies like BSG did.
a movie about andrea and michonnes time together would be cool as would what happened to daryl and merle before they met up with the group. morgans life might be a good subject matter. what would be really nice is a 2 episode 4 or 6 hour take on the zombie apocalypse actually going down.
Good episode, but almost a letdown after last week. I'm somewhat relieved to see the group survive, I was already missing Hershel in my mind. Man, did the Governor jump off the deep end or what??? Damn. And Carl, that boy might be scary in another season.
Positives:
-Carl going down a darker end, due to what he has learned from others ("don't be sorry" -Morgan)
-Daryl lives
-Gov finally snaps and has witnesses
-great soundtrack
-Andrea is gone
Negatives
-Wasteful talking between Andrea/Milton that led to a hammed-up ending
-no resolution of Gov v. Rick
-No real solid ending compared to S2's Rick's declaration of his Ricktatorship
-No new WD until October
Guess its time to order more of the comics for alternative viewpoints and perhaps looks at other series to start in the meantime.
I actually expected Tyreese to find them before Milton turned and save the day.
as per the comics the Gov. will somehow become Nagan and that story will be concluded in the first half of next season.
this solves the problem of repeating the bad guy/group of the season issue that can get boring quick. it also leaves open the next main issue these people will have. with any luck it'll take off on a pseudo WWZ type storyline of taking the world back by way of meeting up with a larger organized community but focusing on the individuals storyline.

^ Ha! Great pic!
I think Carl made that right decision- that guy was dodgy. He probably saved Herschel - Pretty soon Carl will be leading the group! ;)

I think that is the way it will go.
I also wonder how many more seasons they have, do they have an end point in mind, like BSG, or will they keep retelling the same stories until the series is cancelled.
well the comic series is no where near an end and I dont think they have an endgame for the tv series yet. I think theyll keep going as long as the ratings are there. you might like reading this web series: http://adriansundeaddiary.com/ damn good stuff and a possible story path as well.
Looks like The Walking Dead beat out its competition last night and set a new record for itself. Good news for fans of the show.
QuoteHow powerful a ratings champ is "The Walking Dead"? Not only did Sunday night's third-season finale beat the miniseries finale of "The Bible" on History Channel and the third-season premiere of "Game of Thrones" on HBO, but "The Walking Dead" season-ender also broke the series' own ratings record.
There were 12.4 million viewers who tuned in to see dozens of deaths and some major changes in residency on "The Walking Dead" finale, setting a new ratings record for the AMC zombie apocalypse drama. Nine million viewers watched the show's Season 2 finale, while the show's old ratings record was 12.3 million viewers for its midseason return in February.

haha
I felt worse seeing Milton getting killed of than Andrea
I will miss seeing her evolve into the bad-ass sniper Andrea from the comics though. While her role this season was annoying at times, she was turning into a tough survivor who could have been an asset to the group. But then, once handcuffed to a chair, all that rugged survival instinct went away as she mused the great issues of life....or unlife even....instead of working to get free before Milton turned. That might have been the stupidest Walking Dead moment we've seen in three seasons. Whoever wrote that ending should've been the one handcuffed to a chair with a zombie in the room :P
Well here's some uber-nerdy fanboy stuff about everyone's favorite Walking Dead redneck, Daryl Dixon.
He interviewed for the part of Merle, which he didn't get, but was impressive enough that they created the part of Daryl for him.
He is a painter, sculptor and photographer with work which has been shown in galleries in New York and Europe.
He has a titanium eye socket and four screws in his nose as a result of a bad car accident.
He's been a model.
He says that, personality wise, he's a lot like the character he plays on The Walking Dead, which helps to flesh out Daryl.
And my favorite....he is very prominent in a Lady Gaga video and gets to pour beer on her ass while in a hot tub. You can't make that stuff up.
Here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wagn8Wrmzuc (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wagn8Wrmzuc)
Shame on you folks who didn't think I knew who Lady Gaga is, ha! BTW, he plays a biker in this video and if you can't imagine Daryl Freakin' Dixon as a Son, you don't have a pulse, brother.
What's a Son?
Quote from: Longdan on April 10, 2013, 12:03:49 AM
What's a Son?
Sons of Anarchy. Most of us who are fans of one show are fans of the other as well. Because we have superior taste in drama.
Good call. If Daryl gets killed off, or if Reedus ever gets a stretch of spare time, he should totally join the cast of SoA as a Son.
I think a Walking Dead/Falling Skies combo would be a great show !
I dunno. There's just something inherently cheesy about Falling Skies.
Now an AMC or HBO series using zombies, aliens, werewolves, etc. in a sort of "Cabin in the Woods" meets "Game of Thrones" type of show... you know society collapses and different parts of the planet are plagued by a different sorts of horrors, with the storyline following 4 or 5 different groups of people as they try to cope and thrive under the multifaceted armageddon. THAT could be interesting. Perhaps zombies running rampant in the south east, werewolves terrorizing the north east, aliens dominating the midwest, Bigfeet trying to rule the mountains, mutant cannibals in the southwest, etc... all being manipulated by evil ancient gods intent on punishing humanity.
I call copyright, except for whatever dues I would owe the Cabin in the Woods peeps!!
So me and the SLCGsat down and via Netflix saw the first two seasons inabout 4 days.
Want to watch more, but [bitch on]
this series has more fucking drama in it than a bus full of PMSing cheerleaders coming back from losing the final competition ... I mean really... WTF?
the dead have gone from slow movers to a hearty hybrid of loping bloodhounds who use tools
I would have killed all the fricking whiners long ago ....
how hard is it to find a smal rural EMS base?????? or maybe a parks service compound?
Everytime they stopped for anything I hoped that maybe they'd think more about surviving than bitching and rutting
clearly the writers are more comfortable angsting over a pregnancy test reslt than they are about where the fuck do you get more coffee?
and a welder to put a bull bar on a 4x4?
I truly am frustrated with this 'bitchy' scifi ....

I can't stand the soap opera whining either. So I fast-forward through most of the dialogue. This past season, I fast forwarded very little- compared to other seasons.
so as I sit here watching season 2 during the marathon Im really happy that I know Lori is going to die. ;D

Interesting episode last night. Not the blood bath that I thought.
I was surprised they didn't use guns when the walkers were pressing in hard on the fence. I wonder if they're ammunition is not in good shape.
They should get a pneumatic punch, like the one used in No Country for Old Men.

awesomning movy! that has been!
A couple of things I don't think we've seen yet at the prison and surprised we haven't.
Solar panels. There were some at Woodbury, I'm surprised they didn't bring them over yet. Good for small items like walkie-talkies, which we haven't seen yet.
Also a short wave radio to try and find other groups of survivors.

Especially Daryl's response. I can't imagine the Rick/Daryl conversation that's gonna happen. I don't see that going well.
Or Tyreese when he finds out that Rick let Karen's killer go.
well this should be interesting....
gotta love Herschel!
Adam Savage on Talking Dead! Awesome!
I had heard that some episodes this season would be entirely devoted to the Governor and I wasn't too happy about it. However....last nights episode was pretty darn good! It was interesting to see the direction the Gov went after the prison attack and massacre and it wasn't what I expected. A good story and an almost welcome break from the intensity of the prison this season.

But of course! And no matter what, I do not see the Guv's reappearance going as well with Rick and company even as Merle's did. Merle at least had his brother on his side, the Gub'ner......not so much.
Considering how the fight at the prison went in the comics.....I'm definitely on edge over how this second round will go. Obviously the same things can't happen exactly because some characters who lived in the comics have died and vice versa, but I think it's going to be bloody....and I'm not at all sure the good guys will win. Kirkman did say this season would mirror the comics more, which is not a good thing if you are part of Rick's band.

Super episode! Early voting for the episode on IMDB gives it 8.9 and well deserved.
Oh my God.....
So how long do we have to wait? February? I'm going to need some time to regroup after that episode anyway.

Yep. We try to keep this thread a mostly spoiler-free zone, but no guarantees :o
no no thats cool - it was a more a fishing post for 'yeah yeah 4s on netflix in a few weeks!!'
i dont want to know who the sobs and tears are for - i explained to a friend the other day after 2 long term characters went in 2 episodes that the directors are just as bad as George Martin - noone is safe
While we wait for Feb and the next 8 episodes 8)

Netflix won't show any of the series/season until it finishes on network TV. Anytime after that, it's fair game. Sometimes they're quick on the draw, other times not so much, so who knows how long it will take before it gets posted.
Good to see others like to read the comic, too. I've not read it since the beginning of the year - I'll need to go back and check out what I've missed so far.
youve missed quite a lot.
No worries, I'll catch up here pretty quick.
I'm amazed at how nobody is safe in the comic, so much so I'm almost afraid to read the next one to see who dies then. Just like an R. R. Martin book, basically.
What are they on...issue 118 now? I had stopped at 104. I'll rectify that now.
Oh man....two weeks to go and the previews are driving me nuts. Seriously, I haven't been this ready for a show to restart in....well, since last season of Sons at least. I feel like a kid two weeks before Christmas, I want it NOW!!!
Just watched a 3 and a half minute preview....it's gonna be a helluva ride.

Walking Dead
Vikings
Archer
Top Gear
Doctor Who
Fleming
The Americans
I cannot believe no one mentioned that a new show aired last night. And it was a good one.
I'm not one to nit pick, but there were some things with the story line that had me scratching my head.
There were a couple of PO'd posts on Facebook from a few folks. I'll wait until it hits Netflix down the line. :)
FWIW - it beat the Olympics in the ratings last night
I thought it was an outstanding episode myself. The storyline for Carl and Michonne really advanced both of their characters, and the kid playing Carl has come a long way from the "stay in the house, Carl" punchlines.

+1
At first I didn't like that they didn't address the other characters but they really needed an episode to deal Carl and Michonne's issues.
An interview I just read with the showrunner said the fate of other characters will be revealed in very rapid fashion. But yeah, the backstory on Michonne and Carl's growing up made for a great episode, I thought.

So it won the Battle of the Zombies with the increasingly creepy looking Bob Costas?
The Olympics can of course do no wrong in the eyes of NBC, but just about every other non-mainstream news outlet/radio show is pretty much, "Yawwwwwnnnnn"...
Opie & Anthony this morning were talking about how boring it was. One said "Hey, turn it on, let's see what's on now. Probably f*cking curling." They turned it on, and sure enough...curling. His reaction was priceless.
I've yet to watch one minute of it since the opening ceremonies. I just can't get motivated to do it.
Carol's fawking hot!
Last week was great. This week was weak. I don't think there was a single thing that happened that I hadn't pretty much guessed would. Including whom Carol ran into first.
I didnt find it weak at all. last week had the main characters doing there thing and this week had the second tier. Daryl's a fan favorite but Michonne is a core character from the comic. shes actually still it the comic after 100 issues since she was introduced. thats how important she is. I really wish they went with the 90 minute format like other shows have.

Ditto on all of the above. I thought last weeks episode was one of the best written of the entire series so far, but this week's was still really good. I thought the Glenn storyline really stood out. My two biggest surprises? When Tyreese turned around and where Glenn found himself.
Good, solid episode in a show that gets better with each passing week.
So that pink room in last nights episode was just plain creepy .....
family murder-suicide is creepy? ::)
I really enjoyed the episode tonight, which surprises me as I am not much for the human drama element. I thought the contrast between Daryl and Beth was really well done.

Agree! The two acted well together on tonight's episode. Seems like Beth brought some humanity back to Daryl.

I think the opportunity to get to know some of the folks on a deeper level will pay off down the road. These individual episodes have added history and layers to our favorite survivors, which will make losing any of them all the more difficult when it happens. Michone, Daryl, Beth, Carol....these guys are no longer two dimensional and the episodes telling their stories rate among the best things TWD has done. An amazing season.
thats where I feel like Ive really benefited from being current of the comics. theyve given me that depth since the beginning without spoiling the tv plot lines.

LMAO!!! Good one! ;D
So with two episodes left to go in Season Four (and with Robert Kirkman labeling the season finale as "savage") here are two scenarios which seem unimaginable on any show besides The Walking Dead.
This is the point in the comics when the group encountered the cannibals. Is Terminus the cannibal base? What about the group Daryl got picked up by? Are they the cannibals? Even scarier, Beth was taken by parties unknown.....could she end up in a stew pot in the last episode? I've been concerned over Beth since she told Daryl "he would miss her when she was gone". Occasionally, like with Hershel, TWD telegraphs a death an episode or two before it happens. I have my doubts over Beth being around for Season Five.
Second....would TWD kill off Rick? While Rick and Daryl seem bulletproof, Kirkman has said pointedly that no one is safe and revealed this week how he almost killed Rick off early in the comics. I don't see this one happening, but Kirkman has a little George R.R. Martin in him to the point where you really can't feel too safe for any character. I can't imagine TWD without Rick at this point, but the rumors are starting to swirl around the internet. Of course....the same internet predicted the walker Tyreese killed on the tracks last week would instead be a living, breathing Morgan.
Two episodes left, then withdrawal........

^and what is Rick holding in his hand? Dogtags? Hmmmm.......
I read all the comics at once sometime in early 2012 and since Ive kept up. honestly I remember the main arcs but not some of the details. the show is waaaaay off the comics. Beth could have been grabbed by a different version of the Priest who is also a cannibal. who knows. what I would say is that Rick and Carl are the only 2 people that will make it through. at this point in the comics a lot more others have but, those are the central characters. consider that Rick still has his right hand and Carl still has both eyes.
I thought that Terminus was Alexandria
^That's a good bet. Kirkman has said this season follows the comics more closely but some events/characters are switched around. Cannibals, Alexandria, I think all that is in play in whatever order happens.

If they do a WD spinoff, you gonna watch? I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to that one :) If they do this, I hope it plays mid summer like you suggest. That would rate pretty high on the awesome tree.
theres a book out about how the Governor came about. that would be a cool mid summer mini series.
While the ideas are flowing, I wouldn't mind seeing the new series focus on a different location and group of survivors each season, like American Horror Story does so well. There are lots of stories to tell in the Zombie Apocalypse 8)
oh shit.... that started off way to happy to end well.

Looks like you were right. This was a great episode not only for action but also in the way it made you think about the characters. Also, I don't know how I am going to wait until the premier of next season after they left us like that. :(

Watching the last 7 episodes of this frustrating piece of shit of a series. I swear I will never watch another series with these f'd up writers. Quite...
Spoilers....
I really like the dichotomy of the last moments. Dawn shows her true colors and refused to let the situation end clean. Rick, as harsh as he had been earlier, was willing to let anyone on the other side join, regardless of his own feelings.
Dawn just had to win, and like Rick had established early in episode, all she had to do was stop. Fortunately all the rest of the Grady crew was perfectly ok with stopping, otherwise we'd have an early end to the series with everyone dead in a hallway.
Spoiler.................
That was one of the more pointless deaths I've seen in TWD. What did Beth think she was going to accomplish? Rescue was there, all she had to do was walk away. I get that she didn't want to leave Noah, but that could have easily ended in the deaths of the entire group. The writing has been so outstanding this season, I'm a bit disappointed in this particular death. One of the least shocking and meaningful cast deaths since T-Dog, simply because of how it was written.
The rest of the episode was pretty good. Rick is downright scary. Like Jax in Sons of Anarchy, Rick gets this crazy expression, this look in his eyes and you know murder is in his blood. I hate knowing it will be weeks before the series continues, but it will be interesting to see where the story goes from here.

Dammit
The Walking Dead kicks off tonight and writers, producers and actors are calling it a "brutal", "kick-ass", "f***ing nuts" second act. There are also rumors/hints of another major death, possibly even in tonight's episode. The forecast is bleak: more pain, more heartbreak, more over the top zombies, more adrenalin fueled moments and somewhere down the line, maybe a little hope. The show has definitely found it's groove and, with Sons off the air, there is no show I look forward to more than The Walking Dead.
Bring it on!

Gus, remember they are in Atlanta at the end of episode 8. It's a ten hour drive today; toss in the end of the world, limited supplies, scrounging for fuel, zombies and maybe other crazy survivors and I don't see them arriving anytime soon. But I'll be surprised if DC isn't their destination, especially considering that the preview has Rick discussing taking Noah home to Virginia.

In a blizzard.

HA! We had to wait for Romero to be born to even know what the hell 'ombies were.

As a Son of the South myself, these fellow Southerners on the Walking Dead may not like the weather in DC very much! And yeah, imagine zombies buried under 12 feet of snow. Adds a whole new dimension to "spring thaw".
you never read World War Z have you?
that topic is raised several times.

I've read it. True that.
I still think WWZ could be redone with an HBO/AMC/Netflix type budget. each chapter would get either its own or half an episode.
Just don't let Brad Pitt star in it. Or allow anyone associated with the movie anywhere near it. Otherwise, good to go.
that abomination of a script wasnt Pitts fault.
No, but I couldn't really see him as the main character from the books though.
If you haven't seen this weeks episodes, there are SPOILER MEME's below (sounds a lot like Killer Clowns, no?).
But.....this made me LOL ;D

I just watched the latest episode. I hope I'm wrong but I can see this series getting into a rut. Every glimmer of hope is snatched away. Never to find salvation. It will make for a boring show if it goes on much longer.
Heresy!!!
Seriously, a LOT of stuff happens in and around Alexandria in the comics. There is a ton of material to work with and really, the writer's deliver 2-3 great episodes for every "meh" one. IMHO anyway.
I need to catch up on the comics before I try this latest season.
the comics and the show share a name and some characters, but the storylines have significantly diverged
Yeah, that was obvious pretty early on in the show. Which I'm fine with - both are highly entertaining, though the comics are a lot more vicious than the series.
the comics and the show are rapidly re-syncing.
How far through the comics is the TV series.
I found it interesting that there were natural gas connections going into the houses.
as far as I can tell the tv show is almost current with the comics. they skipped over a lot of material to get there!'I can explain the gas but I dont want to spoil anything.
This has been a great season with very few weak episodes. Alexandria is a wealth of storyline and I'm digging the way Rick and Carol in particular are going about the transition. Carol....since last season (you know the episode) she has had so many great moments. If the Emmy's were actually given to the most deserving actors, McBride should have snagged one already.

Thanks Star. Wasn't sure is that was an oversight in filming are not. I have one guess related to the septic system, but not sure if that is correct or not.
The background has a very legitimate reason.
quite the interesting twist away from the comic series. O0
Excellent show tonight!
Wow, another great episode. The pot is starting to boil pretty damn quick.
Just watched a preview for the next episode, "Try". There is a night scene where you can hear vehicles approaching Alexandria and people are going batshit. I think maybe someone's come for dinner........

^I was referencing Sidney Poitier. I don't know who you're talking about 8)
I peeked at the full cast list of the season finale...there were two tough looking guys in the credits who, funny enough, don't have who they are playing listed. Well, I guess Alexandria won't be like the farm in season two where things draaaag on, eh?
Hoping that I'm not giving much away about tonight's show, but Rick kind of went nuts there babbling on. Michonne did the right thing.

From an article in Forbes re: The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead is about to release issue 139 this week. At the moment, events of the show are coinciding with issues 73-74. If I had to guess based on what I've read in the comics and the trajectory of the show (which has only two episodes left in the season) if they sprint forward a bit, I don't think they'd get past issue 80. Given a semi-major event that happens in issue 75, we might not even get past that with such little time until the finale.
You can see already what this means. In five seasons and 67 episodes, the show is barely halfway through the existing set of comicsThe entire article is here if you like:

Carol is fast approaching Warrant Officer Ripley levels of badassery. Hell, she may be past that already. 8)

That almost looks like the main character from The Boys.
If you've not heard of the comic book series The Boys, you owe it to yourself to go and read it. It's all kinds of depraved and awesome.

Certainly are..infact you can more or less floow the series now by reading the comics.
