Apparently zombies are the new enemy of choice for training exercises.  That way no ethnic, religious, or national group will get offended.

How things change.
Back in the 70s, the two handbooks on electronic warfare and missile defence used "Zombie" as the term to designate terminal homing missiles.
No one really liked that, so the books were amended, and it became "Vampire."
Haven't thought about this in something like thirty years.
