Neat little story; thanks for sharing.  Kudos to GMT Games.

Tax write off ?  Or is there some kind of .gov reimbursement for this type of give away?

By the way, if any of you have thoughts on what would be a good GMT game for these people (some of whom have never seen a paper wargame), leave your suggestions on the Forbes blog. I'd like the wargaming community involved in introducing the public to wargaming.

I know a few people who have taken advantage of this program.  GMT are a great company for many reasons, but this is definitely an excellent one.

Yep, that's a very cool program.  GMT has been doing it for at least a few years now.

I was thinking I'd heard of that before.

It's a very nice thing for GMT to do. Maybe they'll inspire some game designers of the future? 8)

That's a generous thing that publisher is doing, giving games to the unemployed. But I'm wondering if playing those free games won't take away at least part of the incentive for someone who is unemployed to go out and look for a job.
