So went looking at Gamersgate for the weekend deals (and because I was bored) and stumbled across this game http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-ZAFE/zafehouse-diaries (http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-ZAFE/zafehouse-diaries) here is a link the the games manual http://www.zafehouse.com/manual/ (http://www.zafehouse.com/manual/)
Haven't played the demo yet but it looks interesting, thought I would point it out. It's on sale right now on gamersgate for $9.95
Interesting concept. Let us know what you think.
I like it so far, the demo limits you to what you can do and only gives you 3 survivors ( you get 5 in the full version). I've played a couple of games and the group dynamics can really affect things. I had one where everyone got along and things went fairly smoothly (until the demo time limit of 48hours was up) and another where no one got along and they all died horribly becuase nothing was accomplished due to constant arguing. I just might pull the trigger at $10, i've spent more on bad movies and this looks like I could get at least a few hours of enjoyment out of it.
Here is a review link I lifted from their forums http://www.dadsgamingaddiction.com/zafehouse-diaries/ (http://www.dadsgamingaddiction.com/zafehouse-diaries/)
Thanks for the heads-up. Downloading the demo now.
Just had a quick go at the demo; didn't last long! The three of us tore a house apart and found loads of supplies but very little ammo. Nonetheless we breached the hotel next door (are the maps randomised?) and had a good scrap with the dozen or so zombies inside. We took about half of them out before getting overwhelmed.
Initial impressions are very positive. There's a plethora of options and places to visit, and the fact that you can import your own characters and locations is inspired! You can even export the diary of each game! Very, very nice.
My only complaint so far is that it desperately needs an in-game soundtrack. Preferably a suitably spooky one.
This was a great find Deadskin, thanks for sharing!
I liked the demo, but feel the game is overpriced at $15. The Gamersgate sale is over, so I'll just have to hope it comes down again over the holidays.
Huw as far as I can tell yes the maps are randomized.

Cool. That and the ability to customise characters and locations make this pretty much a must-buy for me. :)
By the way, I reckon this game might have been inspired by the old 8-bit game The Rats (http://www.lemon64.com/?mainurl=http%3A//www.lemon64.com/games/details.php%3FID%3D3819%26title%3Drats) (based on the James Herbert novel). It has a similar feel. Man, that game terrified me as a kid!
So.. this is in the final week of Gamersgate's Indiefort bundle right now, for $4.
I've started having second thoughts as the screenshots look to be all about racist "survivors" and Janitors with a background in giving big speeches. I dunno how convincing the Social side of this game will be. I suppose they need to force a lot more social strain within the survivor group of the game, but it sounds a bit too over-manufactured. Know what I mean?
I dunno.. at four bucks, I should prolly just give it a go. Been buying quite a bit lately, though, so have been getting tight with stuff that I may not play much for awhile.
Four of those silly dollar things? SOLD!

May have to wait until the zombie rush eases up, late at night.
You killed Gamersgate! :'(
I picked it up and have not dived into it yet..... I read around about it and the developers just released a new update with a new game mode. I also read about complaints on the price, however the developers said they will continue to add "beefy" content to justify the price. The devs are very active and are taking community feedback, so I thought I would jump in.

As soon as I can get Gamersgate to load I'll be picking this up. I intend to put my family into the game as the survivors, and possibly our house too, then use it as a storytelling tool. Should be worth a few laughs! My daughter will love that.
Just dropping by to thank you folks for sharing my review on Zafehouse Diaries (via Dad's Gaming Addiction).
I've played the game at length and beaten it a few times, so feel free to ask questions if you'd like. I might not check this forum often, so feel free to leave a comment / question on the article. I also recorded a gameplay video recently, nothing fancy, but here's that too:

Thanks!

Welcome to the boards, Vince!
I've definitely had an upswing in my Text Sim consumption lately. Between picking up
Zafehouse,
King of Dragon Pass, and my regular addiction to sports manager text sims, I've scored big.
