Title: Steam and International Sales
Post by: Jarhead0331 on November 29, 2012, 12:00:26 AM
So I happen to find myself in a foreign land at a time where at least one game, Farcry 3, is being released internationally before the US release.  Today, Farcry is available in Jamaica...it won't be available in the US until 12/4.  If I purchase the game here now, will I be able to play it in the States when I return on 12/1?

Likely not.  When I lived in Thailand, games I bought via Steam while there were not accessible to me once I got back to Canada.  However, games I bought in Canada were available to me in Thailand.  Also, games I bought in Japan are still available to me.  I think it depends on price more than anything.  Countries that offer significantly lower prices than you find in N. America/western Europe have region locks on them.

Hmmmm...thanks for the feedback SDR.

@migs...this my time for R&R.  I spend most of the day on the beach or at the pool...but the nights?  They belong to my labtop!

I'd say wait for it to get to the States.
Just enjoy your time in Jamaica instead. :)

You know Jar.... I don't mean to dump on ya...but at one - point years ago - you would've brought your own "toys" and played Far Cry for real in a tropical setting  ;)n It woulda been great to have had a real-time "Jar cam" on ya !!!!

Very true...a sign of old age? Or, perhaps my budding new family?

I have a very difficult time envisioning you getting old...so I'm going with the latter.  ;)
