Title: AJE Review and Mistake
Post by: Bismarck on November 30, 2012, 05:34:06 PM
Fantastic, gripping game. I made a mistake on multi-play; it has PBEM.

Jim, not sure if you are aware, but turn processing times can be drastically reduced by going to the options screen I'm the main menu and de selecting the option of viewing computer animate movements. You don't see what the AI is doing but ky turns ok big scenatios process in under one no.ute.

I've found that the default setting for that option seems to vary from title to title in the AGE games.  A lot of them have the delays & such set to none so that it just processes and you see the turn summary, but AJE may have it set to low by default ( and maybe one other title?).

Gah.  I've managed to resist getting this one so far (since as usual, I lack both time and money), but your review is making it that much more difficult...

Thanks. My goal as reviewer is to make things difficult for either developers or gamers. ;)

I have to say Bismarck, I do like your reviews. You don't bitch about things and features just because you don't understand them.  None of this "that's too hard" or " this isn't intuitive. You actually spend time to learn the game.

Thanks. Unless I'm very familiar with the system, e.g. Tiller, I spend around thirty hours playing before I put cyber pen to paper. Even then, I'll interrupt writing to check on a point of play.

I have the game but haven't noticed MP.
Is there actual MP in it?
And have they bothered to include one of the best MP modes for turn based strategy games, a.k.a, hotseat?

It has crude PBEM. Check page 11 of the manual.

All the AGE games have PBEM.
