I just saw Red Orchestra 2 is on sale at Steam for $5 and was wondering how it was these days? Is the multiplayer still active? Is it fun?
I've been going back and forth between RO2 and the ARMA2 based WW2 game. Any suggestions?
Population is alright. It's not yet dead. I play once in a while. Played a lot before.
I still play from time to time, but I'm not very good at it. I find plenty of folks to play with on Friday nights.
It's free to play this weekend, so why not give it a try for free and see if you like it?
I just played the crap out of it for about 2 hours. Lots of full servers and lots of fun. I don't know if the full servers are an artifact of it being free this weekend, it being the weekend, or if it's always like this.
I say jump on in, the water's fine!
I tried it a few months back and was a bit disappointed. It seemed less like RO2 and more like RO1.5. That is, more like a super-mod for the original rather than a fresh, new game.
Eh, to each their own.
But definitely give the F2P weekend a try if you are curious.
I was playing a lot of it about a month ago and the servers were always populated for all modes of gameplay.
Yeah, I just had a quick blast, lots of people on. I'm still really a Darkest Hour guy, but Tripwire listened to the community and (re) introduced a lot of ideas to RO2 to make it worth playing, for me, at any rate. Another reason to buy is that the "Rising Storm" mod is coming soon, and that has the potential to be very interesting.
I popped in for a bit and really enjoyed it. I am going to pick up a copy.
The game has been improving with every patch and more free content is coming.....The community mappers are turning out wonderful maps for the game and a modding group is getting ready to drop more vehicles on us. While the free weekend has inflated the numbers there is a core group numbering around 1200 or so that play regularly....The game is on sale for about $5...... you cant go wrong!
