Good stuff. I was a big fan of the early stuff as well. Songs like Hong Kong Garden, Christine, Metal Postcards, and Arabian Nights were a great counter balance to the Sex Pistols, Ramones, Dead Kennedys, Saccharine Trust, Dead Boys, Butthole Surfers, and all the other angry punk that I was listening to back then. The Cure was a great band back in the late 70's-80's as well.
Thinking about all of that music is like having flashes of a past-life experience. Almost like homesickness... :-\

Every day one of my Pandora streams or internet radio stations brings me something good. It's just that bands like Siousxie and the Banshees, the Cure, Echo&the Bunnymen, Shriekback, etc cause me to remember a different time in my life when music was almost an adventure of discovery that required one to travel to rock clubs and scour the record store racks, listen to college radio stations, borrow cassettes from friends, and never miss an episode of the original
120 Minutes on MTV. It was the time of Toad's Place and The Ozone in New Haven, the Agora Ballroom/Stage West in West Hartford, and there was no internet to track down band names or song lyrics and no iTunes to instantly get access to songs.
If you wanted something you had to drive from store to store in hopes that it wouldn't be sold out. I can still remember how much of a stir it caused among all my friends when my buddy Jim brought a Ramones single home from England that was not available in the USA at the time and wouldn't be available to buy until the Ramones released their next album a year or two later.
The quest for good music back then was like a primal urge, just behind sex and about even with beer, depending on the situation. Maybe it's because I'm almost 50 now but it seems that good music it just too easy to get, much like cheap games on Steam. There is no sense of triumph when you score some melodic awesome nowadays. That's all.

There are a lot of good new punk and alternative bands out there. But they can be difficult to find if you don't subscribe to XM or actively look for them on the internet.
Teenage Bottlerockets are great. Bigger than Kiss is awesome.
Siousxie and the Banshees was a very unusual band for their technical expertese and the vocal range of the lead singer. But they were horrible in concert droning on and on and on instead of playing studio length versions of their music. I've never found a band quite like them. Ramones, Dead Kennedys, etc..... have lots of bands with similar styles.

Ironically, I only "discovered" AIC maybe 7-8 years ago. I knew they existed before that, but otherwise hadn't paid them much attention. However, I moved to the Twin Cities around that time, and someone at the area's main rock station must have been a fan, because they played their songs all the dang time (especially tracks off their
Dirt album). Before long, I was hooked. 8)

Yep, another great song! "Would" and "No Excuses" are probably my two favorites, but I've never heard a bad tune from them yet. :)
And now for something delightfully horrible.
I never really liked Scott Stapp (Creed vocalist). I found it hilarious that within days of the whole band deciding it was over, the rest of them re-formed as Alter Bridge. But Mr. Stapp has produced one incredible mess that might just be the lamest song of all time.
Marlins Will Soar is a song he did for the Miami Marlins. It features lyrics so awful you will not be able to stave off the douche chills...or the laughter. And the vocals. Sweet merciful crap those vocals!

I went and saw them on their 2010 tour and they are ridiculously good live. They're maybe my favorite band going right now, so I'm certainly biased, but their stage show was incredible.

Got an iPhone? I've made some ringtones for mine off of some songs. Take some time but it works. If anything else I think I still have some old sound editing software and I can send whatever format your phone can use.
I'm on a droid, but haven't tried to figure out how to use mp3s as ringtones yet. still just using the built-in ones

The fella playing guitar with Rik is Rick Santers. I'd seen him, about 4 months beforehand with his bar band called, of all things, "Santers". Man, they really kicked ass. Great bar band to see with your pals in your early 20's. It blew my mind when that guy I sat 10 feet away from was now playing on-stage with Triumph.

Looks like a ton of work, both audio mixing and video editing. I find the videos themselves a little distracting because of the overly theatrical lip-sincing. The first one was cool to see but after that I started ignoring the video portion.

I've had this damn thing stuck in me brain since '01, after a long vendor convention road trip to fookeen Nebraska Hobbytown HQ.
That weekend was the first time I heard the damn thing (on the severely hangover-laced way home with my associate) and then the zombie movie featuring it in an excellent piece of colorful scenery followed a year or two later. Crops up in my flaky memory regularly.. the stuff that shows up in the shitter or the parking lot.
Just thankful it's not fuckin pop.
