Title: No Gamersgate
Post by: Sparhawk on December 21, 2012, 07:49:27 PM
Gamersgate servers seem to be down. People must have made quite the rush on them.

Apparently they put up some mega Bethesda pack that started getting mentioned all over the place, and now the site's basically screwed.

I managed to buy the IndieFort bundle eventually.  I think it took about ten minutes.

It's working fairly well now.  Except for one thing - browsing multiple pages in the Offers list - it only shows the first page and you can't advance.

A shame since there looks to be some crazy deals on lots of good ones, and boatloads of Packages on sale.

Looks like they screwed up again yesterday and had the Bethesda pack on for 91% off for a while.  Now it's changed to "Coming soon".

Does 'ran out of serials' mean you don't get the games at all or just can't register it on Steam? If you paid but get no games then it is up to them to refund, not wait for each consumer to contact them. If no Steam support, then I suppose it would be up to the individual to decide.

You must've got one of the packages that caused their hosting to die.  :o

Every time I've received a message about GG running out of serials, they have had another batch sent to them from the publisher a few days later and then issue them to you.

I suggest sending a help ticket into GG about the "out of serials" message to let them know which games are getting that, just to be sure someone has done so.  Unlike Steam, where it took over a week for even a cut & paste Help Desk response (and another week or two before actually receiving a serial), Gamersgate sent a fairly quick human response pertaining to my exact issue, telling me they were getting more codes.  Being X-mas sale season, however, I'm sure everyone's customer service is getting swamped so there's no telling how long it will be before they get new codes in (after Xmas?).

It might mean they are selling them faster than they get them.. don't worry. they'll take care of you.. Gamers Gate is top notch Customer Service if you open a ticket with them..

Thanks for the replies. I have not yet ordered one of the bundles so this key issue was making me think twice about it. I have a HUGE game backlog so waiting for a key is no biggie as long as they eventually deliver.

The Bethesda bundle has been confirmed as a mistake.

fortunate for the ones that grabbed it but i see them complaining on the gamersgateforums because they cant get their keys. i mean really people? you just nabbed over 300 bucks worth of games for 30 bucks and you complain cus they dont have enough keys. even see some people had it in their cart but couldnt process payment, they now want GG to honor the sale.

I didn't know they had a forum.  Where's it located?  I don't see a link on the website.

Their forum is called Game Tutor.  It's a clickable tab on the left side of the screen.

Perhaps CptHowdy is referring to the game tutor section for the games.

LoL.
People will whine about anything these days.

Mind you I remember a Boardgaming retailer that had a very huge discount, that made a game's price drop to ~-3K or so (yeah, a minus,  a negative price), allowing you to get it and a lot of other things together for free :D
Obviously they ran out of stock within a second of the posting at BGG.

I heard it was a Borderlands 2 4-pack for around $12 that has caused the recent outage.  Another pricing mistake.  Ouch.

Then either it's some weird marketing shtick, or some disgruntled employee there in Sweden is going to get beheaded. :P

Site seems to be sporadic again today.  This is starting to get under my skin, because I want to install some games from my library.  IMHO some decent level of site availability is required by their business model.  This has been going on for days now...

Once again the site is down. I've been patient through the holiday season figuring they have had some problems not experienced before. One of the reasons I have bought so many games from Gamersgate has been the percieved stability of the service they provide. Now I'm beginning to be concerned. The only way they are useful to me is if my library of games are available when needed. Today my son downloaded Evochron Mercenary on Steam and I wanted to download the game off my Gamersgate library to play with him. So of course I'm frustrated.

Well, in the case of Evochron can't you just grab the client from the dev's site and use your key from Gamersgate to activate it?

Evochron issue resolved. Gamersgate sight came back up. The recent unreliability is what is so frustrating.
