Title: Lords of the Rings: War in the North Help
Post by: Grim.Reaper on December 28, 2012, 08:07:20 AM
Well, I think I might have found my first clunker from my holiday purchases and that is LOTR: War in the North....it is not that the gameplay seems bad, but something very annoying.  I like to use controllers since I am not great with the keyboard, but in this game I have found no way to turn off the vibration/rumble feature of the controller.  To me, this feature has to be one of the dumbest features introduced to controllers.....I can care less about feeling things move.  Worse yet, I could find no configuration option that allows me to turn it off within the game or outside the game.

If there is no way to turn this off, this one will never be played by me:(

Does anybody have this game and found a way to turn this feature off?

I have the game for the 360 and actually can't remember any problems with the vibration of the controller. The game is a a really nice LOTR coop combat game...but we stopped playing it because of its numerous bugs. A shame really...but a vibration bug? Nope, sorry can't help you with this :(

Thanks...but I don't think it is necessarily a bug.  A lot of games that use the Xbox controller provide the feature for the rumbling/vibration, but most games allow you to turn it off.  On the PC version, I have yet to find a spot where you can turn it off and that is what I am hoping to find.  If I can't, I likely won't play this game since I can't stand it shaking all over the place.  Hard to believe they did not include an option to disable like other games.

Isn't there driver software you can use to disable it at that level?

Does not appear to be so.....I searched and seems like there is no global setting and it relies on each specific game to provide the option.  I thought it was kind of weird as well since I would have thought there would have been some kind of global manager.   I believe on the xbox you can do it, just not on the PC.  I read that people were actually removing the rumble motor from the controller to stop it....that seems to extreme for my liking.

Is there a .ini or other text file that you can edit?

Nope, no config files.

Actually it is prolly not worth the trouble.
Unless you revel in hack and slash for its own sake.
It is a pretty game but I found it kinda meh after
killing the 10,000th orc.

Reviews were mediocre so I wasn't expecting a ton.  However, I don't typically play these types of game so it would have been a newer experience for me.  But in the end, I am not going to cry over losing $4 over it, just too pay the developers couldn't have made a simple option to turn it off.  On to the rest of my holiday loot:)

I've had a proper look around the net but I can't find any way of turning the rumble off.  Crazy.

Thank you for checking...that confirms what I found too.  Oh we'll, onwards!
