I just about creamed my pants with this post by Dave O'Conner from Panther Games:
Quote from: ArjunaOK I hear you want a strategic east front game using a modified version of our Command Ops engine. It is do-able and I have given it some thought. I would constrain the scope like we did for our 1985 boardgame "Trial of Strength". This didn't have a production engine but rather a reinforcement schedule. We could add one of these later.
I would also like to model multiple commands so we could support team play.
But the real question is how to fund it. IMO it will take two full time developers two years to complete plus a small army of beta testers. Doing it on the cheap ( ie working from home with no frills and even fewer perks ) it would still cost 500K. We don't have that. So we would need to raise it somehow.
I looked into Kickstarter but you have to be an American company or an American citizen. So that's ruled out.
Has anyone here got some bright ideas as to how we could fund the development?
This will be a whole lot of awesome if this game comes to pass.

I thought some people over at Matrix were working on a mod for Command Ops - and it was Eastern Front and small scale? I don't know if the mod was a work of love or whether it was going to be an official mod - paid for - but I thought it was being worked on?
Kickstarter isn't exclusive to the USA any more. It's available in the UK now, and possibly elsewhere too, although I haven't looked into it.

500 K ? presumably thats australian dollars ? I think he is australian.
All he needs is a brit or american with a bank account for kickstarter.
Didnt someone try an eastern front game like this before and it ended up as vapourware ?
I know he has the engine already however and I would love to see this.
Great find, Pinetree. Interesting development.

You might be thinking of Legends of the Blitzkrieg which is platoon level and covers West Front action in 1940. I'm really interested in it - more so than a strategic level game.
