...looks like those of us who got Elemental: War of Magic way back will be getting our second freebie.

Legendary Heroes features:
• New champion progression system
• Improved tactical combat
• Dozens of new spells, abilities and equipment
• 10 New monster classes
• Gigantic new map size
• Legendary Heroes scenario
• Champions acquired through fame rather than randomly on the map. New types of champions, including non-humanoid, are also included
• Champion traits are now selected from a trait tree, rather than a random list, offering new options, more control, and more diversity
• New monsters, spells, and abilities, including new faction special abilities to further differentiate the factions
• Enhanced tactical combat. New combat options that will make even groups of spearmen and militia more useful and exciting to use then in the past
• Removal of Influence and Faction Prestige mechanics
• Insertion of Fame and Unrest penalty mechanics
Sounds neat.
Hopefully it won't take another year for it to come out.
Yeah it does sound promising. Embarrassingly I haven't put much time into Fallen Enchantress yet. Perhaps this weekend.
Hurray, I get another expansion for free. :)
But this announcement sort of confirms a feeling I've had with FE: that Stardock still isn't satisfied with the core Elemental design. FE was a great improvement over WOM, but I still found the game to be lackluster in a number of areas. I think the new feature list for LH confirms that certain core mechanics of FE needed to be scrapped and re-thought.
In this regard it is a bit like Distant Worlds, the sci-fi 4x game by Codeforce.
While the base game of DW was significantly better than WoM, of course, but the strategy of Codeforce has also been to expand upon gameplay features of the game with every expansion.
FE seems to go the same route.

• Gigantic new map size
The only thing I've wanted them to do since WoM. This may actually make the game fun to play. I hate the small maps in WoM and FE.
Looking forward to this one as well. Seems like we're being -- well, "inundated" is too strong a word, but something like it -- with 4x titles from both the space AND fantasy sub-genres this year! This makes me happy. :)

Indeed. It suffices to bring about ejaculation in one's pantaloons, wot?

...I think you're taking the Fantasy setting a wee bit too far...
Haha! You said wee!
^^Discusting. I shall write a letter of outrage to, um, someone.
