I should be used to it by now, but it still came somewhat of a surprise to me when I saw Wargaming buy Gas Powered Games (http://worldoftanks.com/news/2037-wargaming-acquires-gas-powered-games/).
Poor Chris. This was almost his worst option, besides winding the company up altogether. At least people will get to keep their jobs now.
^Some of them.
With all this talk about Wild<something> being cancelled on Kickstarter I never paid attention, but I thought Chris was also the guy behind the upcoming Total Annihilation / Supreme Commander clone; Planetary Annihilation (http://planetaryannihilation.com/) also on Kickstarter.
But these guys are a different company altogether!
So what's the deal here? Wasn't Chris the brain behind TA back in the day and founded GPG while creating its successor Supreme Commander?
The guys behind Planetary Annihilation claim they were the brains behind TA and are making the true sequel now. ???
Weird.
I loved the original Dungeon Seige (didn't Gas Powered do that one?) and the second one too. Hope this works-out some how for all people involved and for gaming.

Wildman (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gaspoweredgames/wildman-an-evolutionary-action-rpg) was the Kickstarter game that was cancelled. According to MobyGames (http://www.mobygames.com/company/cavedog-entertainment), Chris Taylor was the creator of the
Total Annihilation series which was developed and published by Cavedog Entertainment. Chris Taylor, left Cavedog Entertainment shortly after the release of the first game's expansion to set up his own company: Gas Powered Games. Gas Powered Games (http://www.mobygames.com/company/gas-powered-games-corp) "....focused solely on the RPG
Dungeon Siege series, for which the film rights have been sold as well. In February 2007, the company released the real-time strategy game
Supreme Commander followed by the action RPG
Space Siege in August 2008.
Demigod, a real-time strategy game influenced by the
Warcraft III custom map Defense of the Ancients, was released in 2009 and the sequel to
Supreme Commander,
Supreme Commander 2, in 2010."
Does that clear things up?
I hope it works out for all concerned, too.
Glad to see they have a chance...it was either this or lights out, lock the doors, that's all she wrote.
