So...until recently we had subs that couldn't fire torpedos and now fewers high tech munitions for next gen fighters!

Why don't we figure out how to buy a helicopter first?
Canada dumps F35

Could be 5th if you consider the French territory of St. Pierre & Miquelon, and also consider Greenland (Denmark) part of North America.
Well, after the USAF, USN, and the US Army helicopter fleet, which one are you putting them ahead of?

Are we also going to start counting State Air Guards? If yes, RCAF will be around 55th. We're probably stronger than the Vermont and New Hampshire Air Guards.

Don't forget about the Commemorative Air Force. It has heavy bombers and jet fighters. Most are a little long in the tooth but hey..

The only Gripen image that I could poach in RCAF livery.
I do believe that if I ever saw one hurtling through the sky, I just might sport some wood. Saw a Mirage doing barrel rolls through some clouds a few years back and I'm still enchanted. :D
I think the only hold back on the Gripen would be that' it's a single engine bird.... not too comforting as yer racing across the arctic....
Well then:

And the Frenchies will let us build 'em here!
But we'll want multi-role in one platform, so it looks like the Super Hornet.
Still the thought of seeing this in RCAF livery:

along with this for ground support:

fills my soul with excitement.

Yeah Baby! O0
If you guys are enamored with A-10s I know an Air Force that is looking to divest itself of some all that it currently has...

But just think how many we could afford - finally an aircraft that we could buy en masse and they would be hard as hell to hit at that size ;-)
It'll be the Super Hornet... should have been all along.
Totally!
Looks like the Super Hornet deal is happening

Awesome - finally a common-sense approach !
