Here was an old PC Gamer article about it from last year:

http://www.pcgamer.com/previews/clockwork-empires-a-preview-of-gaslamp-games-lovecraft-laden-steampunk-city-builder/

I've not really seen much about the specifics of gameplay yet, but it's made by the Dungeons of Dredmor guys (Gaslamp Games) so I'm willing to watch out for it despite only rarely being in a city-builder/dwarf fortress mood.

I remember drooling over this but I don't know anything further. Anyone know a release date?

"Maybe this year", sounds like the current estimate.  :P

I found an acticle (http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2012/11/02/steampunk-meets-lovecraft-clockwork-empires-may-have-the-perfect-setting.aspx) from last November.  Assuming the author knows what he's talking about, this quote seems to indicate that Clockwork Empires still has a long way to go...

Quote
The next indie project from the Dungeons of Dredmor creators at Gaslamp Games, a city simulator by the name of Clockwork Empires, is so early in development that gameplay specifics are practically nonexistent.

^Thanks Steve...probably not this year then. So many other projects to look forward to, it's not really a problem :)

^Same here.  Lots to distract me for a year, but still looking forward to this one when it comes out....

Not sure if it will actually be in the game, from the article it sounds like it may be concept art, but hopefully it'll make it into the game.  I like the looks of it and I like that it implies support for amphibious landings...

No apology needed....it just hit me how many of us are seeing early access availability like we used to see as a true release.

Early access = buyer beware, more than usual.

It's now out of Early Access, it says on Steam.  I have no idea what kind of game it might be, but "no longer in Early Access" feels like one confident descriptor!
