Title: RoF
Post by: bob48 on March 20, 2013, 04:40:41 PM
AT LAST!

After lots of problems downloading the free-to-play game, I have finally got it installed and running. Very impressed with it so far, although I'm just playing the tutorials and messing about with various settings, such as assigning joystick commands and sensitivities, which is a bit of a chore.

Managed to get off the ground and do a (heavy) landing, plus several crashes! The prop torque takes a bit of getting used to, especially being used to flying well-behaved aircraft in FS9/FSX for all these years, but I can see that the game is worth the effort.

I guess I'll be looking at some of the payware aitcraft next, and there are plenty to choose from.

Only good pubs. Where the straw on the floor is changed every week, and they do try and remove even the most stubborn blood stains.

RoF means Rate of Fire. Every grognard should know that.  ;)

Tuna and I sometimes play online.  Gimme a shout if you need a wingman with a penchant for hitting bridges.

Will do, although I'd like to get some degree of confindence in controlling an aircraft first. I've never missed hitting the ground yet though!

I have to return to it. I was just getting the basics of flight right in my head when I moved on to something else.

I went up a few times with SDR and Tuna as a gunner and it was good fun. Maybe the four of us can go up?

Damn now you're giving me the bug...unless I'm getting a cold.

Sounds like a good idea to me Gus, lets see what we can fix up.

Excellent! May I refer to you as Commander Bawb when we go up?

Careful Bob, Gus is known for snuggling up close behind you and stroking his gun as you fly.

I'd suggest one of the "New Wings" servers chaps.  I'll monitor the airwaves (http://online.riseofflight.net/en/ (http://online.riseofflight.net/en/)) and try to join you (evenings GMT)

SDR was the wingman for Tuna and I. Tuna and I had some unplanned meetings with the ground at high speed. It gave me new respect for gunners in all types of aircraft in WWI and wars since then. Takes some real sand to get into an aircraft going into a warzone that you have no control of and engage an enemy. Scary stuff.

Hey one of the Gotha Crashes was intentional, cause we didn't want to 'air' start I think... lol.. I told you to eject!!!!!.. Did you forget your chute!!?

Bob, if you want to buy a tough bird to fly, grab the Gotha... It's hard, but you get a sense of pride when you complish simple things in it, like taking off and landing!

Just whatever you do, don't follow Tuna into a Cloud!  :-[

I have every confidence that Gus handles his weapon with care and discretion.

Go in the hanger and lower your convergence to like 80.... don't fire till the NME plane fills your screen!
