Tis not an April's Fool! I did indeed manage to finish Sang-Froid this past week!--although this weekend I only started or continued several games. (I never seem to actually finish any games over a holiday weekend.)
This brings the grand total of games I've finished in order to buy a new game... to... um........
{counting}
.... one.
ahem.
(I had more games finished but then bought Sang-Froid, so that reset my list.)
So I still need to finish another four games before I allow myself to buy a new one.
Did anyone else manage to finish a game this Easter week(end)?
Edited to add: I enjoyed Sang-Froid thoroughly, by the way. It's still a bit clunky and lacks a bit of polish; and the accidental or intentional art choice to completely ignore the calendar moon cycle established in the mission-load screen still annoys me; and the voice acting could stand to be better. But I still love the game -- it drips with style and strategic frenzy (so to speak).
I finished Bioshock: Infinite.
The MP group I play Iron Front and ArmA II finished our British Forces campaign that we'd been playing for the last month.
I finished one campaign of Civ V playing as the Chinese against the Japanese...ended in a draw. Then promptly started another modded Civ V campaign as the Russians against the Japanese.
Managed to finally finish a game of Warlock by taking out all the other great Mages. I had researched the Unity Spell but at 25 turns to cast, it was easier just to take out the last Mage.
That was on normal. I think I need to bump it up a bit as I pretty much trashed the entire map with my 4 heroes, a couple of elementals and a few catapults.
I managed to win my first game as Germany in Strategic War in Europe...101 points.
Didn't manage to finish off the soviets but was able to stop D-Day. Actually, the Soviets were pushing me hard but i was still in control of most of the south of the Soviet Union (including Stalingrad) and Poland. Never managed to take Moskaw....and not a single troop on the british islands either...
A victory nethertheless...
I finished Diablo 3 on normal with my Monk. Just finished the 3rd act on nightmare level with her tonight. In MLB the Show, I finished a couple of games after moving the pitching difficulty up to all-star. Definitely have to pitch more thoughtfully at that level or I get crooked numbers put up on my.
I'm afraid the only game I finished this past week was Microids first Dracula game. But I moved along on some other things.
(Which is why I didn't finish their second game in their Dracula duology. They have a third game I also own but I discovered over the weekend that I can't get it to play on Win8, even with compatibility cues, so I'll have to try installing Drac3 on my older XP system, which being a Falcon still ought to be moxie enough to handle it by far. Drac3, from what I gather, isn't so much a sequel to their first two games as a new vampire story set just before World War 1 with Dracula as the special-guest villain at the end.)
I realize there are some very nifty games just recently released, and I want to buy them -- specifically I want Far Cry 3 and the new Tomb Raider reboot and Bioshock: Infinite (as well as Bio1 at least.) For that matter I still want to play the Mass Effect series now that it's all out for PS3.
But that's seven new games, to earn which (for self-disciplinary sake) I need to finish 7x5=35 games first. (Or maybe 5x5=25 games, since by now I can buy the METril at the cost of one new game.)
Of which Sang-Foid and Microids Dracula are only the first two of my current list.
Fortunately I'll be able to count the first two Far Cries and the modern prior TR Trilogy (Anniversary, Legend and... Underground or Undergarment or whatever it was called), once I get around to playing them, since I already have those. I've also already got all three Uncharted games, and I'm well on my way through the first, so I'll be able to count those, too. Once I've finished them.
Whew, still a lot of games to go, though... :( I guess the two next Drac games will count.
(.......yes, I also cannot believe how horribly shortsighted and ungrateful I am to be complaining about TOO MANY OLD NEW GAMES TO PLAY BEFORE I WILL ALLOW MYSELF TO BUY MORE NEW GAMES!!)

Finished Far Cry 3! It was okay.
I won my first campaign in Conquest of Elysium 3 playing as the Troll King. Once I defeated the High Cultists army of hybrid fish/man warriors it was clear the board was mine. It took about 30 turns to track down all of the Barbarian King's armies. The High Cultist's built up a pretty decent empire and army, but the Barbarians never really amounted to much more than a few stacks of 30-40 men armies running around trying to reclaim territory from the random wandering monster hoards.

Finished Skyrim Dawnguard addon playing against the Vampires. I enjoyed it and look forward to getting Dragonborn when it goes on sale.
I finished the StarCraft II Wings of Liberty Campaign. It was alot of fun although it reminded me I am still not cut out RTSs

TCT, yeah I'm getting too old to ever do much RTS gaming anymore. I've got a campaign of R.U.S.E. I've been working on since not long after it was released, and I can't be bothered to finish it. Although if I want a new game I'm sure I'll have to finish it eventually! (Or declare it effectively "finished" on the 25 hour rule; I still care slightly more about finishing it someday than just giving up and moving on.)
I can't say I have any RTS games on the buy list, though.
Last week I "finished" Dracula 2: The Last Sanctuary and Dracula: Origins, in the sense that I played both until they annoyed me so much I rage-deleted them from my hard drive and found something else to do.
So... win, I guess? (SpecOps: The Line taught me that. ;) )
Won a Conquest of Elysium 3 campaign playing as a the Witch faction. Started a new game as the Dwarves, which could be very challenging to win.
Finished Nightmare and Hell levels on my Witch Doctor in Diablo 3... obviously i didn't have time for other games ;-)

It's still Monday somewhere, right? Whew! Last Monday of the month, too.
I have to say my resolution has basically fallen apart, thanks to Steam and Gamergates sales. At the moment I'm technically hanging on only in the sense that I haven't bought a single big-money game. But I'm pretty sure I've dropped nearly $200 over the past week. {hanging head}{in shame}
Nevertheless, my resolve to keep on finishing games lives on. Last week I finished Injustice: Gods Among Us, which is hardly a great accomplishment as the main campaign lasts maybe four hours tops. But I enjoyed it immensely. I don't know if Timm/Dini had anything to do with it directly, but if their writing stable didn't put it together, definitely they were fans of the Diniverse DCAU: aside from some overconvenient plot holes (hardly unknown in the Diniverse, to be fair) the writing was on par with the JL/JLU series, and several veterans of the Diniverse DCAU returned to voice famous roles like Wonder Woman, Superman and Batman.
(I preordered Injustice months ago, so it doesn't count as breaking my resolution by buying a big-money game. SO THERRREEE!!! :( )
I'm looking forward to scoping out the smaller campaigns, which unlike this game's spiritual predecessor (DC vs Mortal Kombat) can only be unlocked in sequence: I have to beat all of Superman's minicamp first, or a significant number of those missions, to unlock the beginning of other minicamps. On the other hand, while this is annoying, the campaigns themselves seem more varied than just going from one fight to another.
The cutscenes, music and costume designs are several steps up from DCvsMK, too. Just a top-notch effort all around. I hope the designers get to play in the DC universe again!
While I'm looking forward to more of the minicampaigns in Injustice, I've been spending my time methodically working through the campaign of Stronghold 1 (not to be confused with the late 90s game of the same name). Just beat the campaign against the Rat tonight. Despite the game being solidly set in the late sprite era, it's packed with charm and detail, and despite a few bugs it seems much more stable than SH2 (which I played several missions of years ago). I feel like I'm getting a real hang for the missions in this earlier game; perhaps that means when I move on to SH2, SHCrusader (which I've routinely heard is the high point of the series) and SH3, I'll continue to feel like I'm having fun. (I may skip SH2, which from what I recall is a remake of SH1 anyway, and the fantasy SH which I've heard dubious things about, although I can't help being curious about the material.)
I suppose in a way I also ranked a "finish" in Dom3, since I was recently put out of my first multiplayer game (or out of my 3rd mp game, but I'm still holding on by my fingernails in my 1st and expanding steadily in my 2nd.) While my defeat in the game was quick, I can't really blame the other player under the circumstances, and I think I can say I did my best given what I had to work with, while striking at least one surprising blow -- which didn't ultimately work for various reasons too complex to get into, but still at least I annoyed my vanquisher. Alas, that game was also by far the largest of the three on the most epic map (Faerun/Forgotten Realms), and the game looks shaping up to be an exciting one. I finished Skyrim: Dawnguard. Not sure why everyone was so down on it, I really enjoyed it. Had a couple of really challenging fights which is not something that I've really had this play through after the first few levels.
I had to work more then I was planning to this weekend, so I didn't get to spend much time with Steel Wolves. I did unbox it, and read the scenario guide and the rule book but wasn't able to get beyond that. I'm hoping to be able to start a single boat patrol sometime later this week, after I free up a little bit at work.

Finished Inferno level on my Witch Doctor in Diablo III... if it weren't for the auction houses and their effect on loot drop rates, I could see myself playing a lot more... but at this point I might just shelve it until either they fix that or release the PS3 version. They've admitted they made a mistake, but they are really slow in fixing it.
I've pretty much decided to skip Diablo3 and stick with Torchlight 2 (and maybe finally install my copies of Titan Quest + expansion someday).
