Don't know if this has already been posted here or not. Teutoberg Forest walk-through video. 10 Min. tease of Rome 2 TW. Looks and sounds great to me. Find it here... twcenter.net Enjoy.
Link?
I think this might be it.
Looks great, but for the love of Pete, why most all total war units move like they're in a Benny Hill skit?
Focus testing for previous titles. I remember reading an article from one of the devs and he stated that most of the players in the test groups complained that the units moved too slowly and the battles took too long so they upped the movement speed, cut the armour, and made morale much more fragile. Gotta appease the twitch crowd.
Hard not to like that video...and war hounds...YES!

I'm in love.
Yeah my dog is pretty awesome isn't he?

Who the hell plays a vanilla TW game and thinks the units move to slow and battles last too long?...good lord. What, are they putting 6 year olds who are off of their Ritalin on these focus groups?
The fire effects are pretty awesome. Overall a decent vid.
Frankly I'm more interested in the campaign map and how those dynamics work. The battles may look more visually impressive but the reason I think RTW was so brilliant was because of the campaign. I've played through plenty of campaigns while glossing over the vast majority of the tactical battles (auto-resolve). Depending on the difficulty it can make things pretty challenging but I was so captivated by the strategic layer that I prefer focusing on that to spending 15 minutes of my very limited gaming time positioning phalanxes (as fun as it may be).
I really love all the work they have put into the battle maps and terrain. They look amazing. I also like the zoomed out tactical map. It will be interesting to see how the influences play.

Probably. I remember well the stink during the run up to the release of E:TW when a dev announced that ships would be able to sail directly into the wind because focus testers found the concept of wind and direction of sail difficult to grasp.
I remember that too. Not fondly.
I miss the Flaming Pigs. I was impressed by the sound of the Roman soldiers running together. Sounded very realistic.

Answer:
The RTS 'Zerg' crowd.
TW certainly has some crossover RTS customers, otherwise it wouldn't rake in what are obviously large sales numbers.
Visually impressive as always, although the Romans' fatigue -- specifically, the lack thereof -- struck me as a tad unrealistic. Yes, the units still move too quickly as usual, but no surprise there.

The non-existent AI and lack of immersion in RTW completely ruined any enjoyment I might have derived from the campaign (to say nothing of the battles themselves - ugh).
I'm with you, however, in being more interested in
Rome 2's campaign & gameplay mechanics. Get that right, plus a decent AI (ala
Shogun 2), and I'll be more than content.
