And with it, the weekend! No work this weekend, so, game time it is! Warlock is on tap as well as Civ IV BTS MP. What goes on from there, well, that's anyones guess :)
WoTs (this weeks special very good), Eador (first one), Panzer Corps Allies and maybe some Neverwinter
Heroes of Annihilated Empires mostly.
Armada 2526 Supernova with Iceman's mod...
Not sure what else yet....sooo many options of fantastic games in my collection (played and unplayed).
Once I wrap up my M2TW game, I may get back into Diablo III or Skyrim for a bit, and the finally hit the tutorials for CK II and AJE. Trying to resist preordering Rome TW also. That's a game all unto itself.
Finally back from barcelona tonight -
Lots of dom 3 pbem and some cmbn pbem - that's me cutting down on my muliplayer!!!
Looking to purchase the graviteam stuff too
It's a Big Beta Weekend! Card Hunter and continuing testing of the German campaign in LnL.
Anguille, what is Iceman's mod?
Rise of Prussia Gold
Alea Jacta Est
Dominions 3
I will be playing Skyrim just reached the 100 hour mark. I'm gonna guess I got about another 200 hours to go :)
Skyrim
Diabo 3
Steel Wolves
Weather's turning cold for the weekend so back to inside work.... painting my new man cave! 8)
Maybe some CiV using the Play the World mod. Freakin HUGE map.
Some HoS testing. TGB want to try MP yet?
As FlickJax touched on, World of Tanks is featuring a Military Parade Weekend (http://worldoftanks.com/news/2308-military-parade-weekend/) one day of which (two if you work it right) you can have a Premium Account thanks to the Military Parade Bonus Code (http://worldoftanks.com/news/2304-military-month-bonus-code/) special that also gives players a number of free expendables. So I will be spending several hours playing World of Tanks this weekend!
Other than Eador - Master of the Broken World and Warlock - Master of the Arcane, I am as yet undecided on what else to play this weekend.
Some OOTP13 and maybe some Toatl War Shogun 2 given all the talk about Rome.
I do have to continue my LnL Band of Heroes AAR - it's looking bad for the US.

My schedule is so busy right now between work and leaving for our first vacation in four years next week, I can't guarantee a block of time to devote to MP. I will be getting home the evening of the 26th and we can probably set something up for after that.
Age of Wonders-Shadow Magic has taken my brain hostage & won't let it go. The Elves and the Dwarfs have united and are fighting giant bugs in the Spirit World. How could anybody resist that?
I'm going to delve into Neverwinter a bit and see if it grabs me... otherwise, probably some AoW:SM for me also.

Possibly some CKII, but mostly scenarios for CLOD (I hope to have the boardgame The Burning Blue sometime soon -- all the new scholarship -- including research for this game -- makes me want to do shamelessly pro-RAF scenarios since apparently the Luftwaffe never had much of a chance against Group 11 and the defense network and Dowding and Keith Park -- though from another point of view, the 200 Spitfires in Group 11 were out-numbered 4-1 by 109s alone) plus some RO2 and ARMAIII.
Will use PARADE code for a day of Premium in WOT..
Maybe some Iron Front at SimHQ tomorrow..
Some Warlock or Civ IV MP if the parties are available..
Time to start up a long term OOTP franchise. Hey, maybe I actually mean it this time! ;D

How's Steel Wolves?
I had fun the couple of turn's I've actually been able to play. With my current work schedule I haven't been able to dedicate the time need to play more. I actually get the weekend off so I should be able to fix that.
Third Reich PC, an oldie that was overlooked but I think a well implemented game. I've been playing the campaign game this week as the Axis and am in the Summer 1940 turn and in the middle of the France invasion. The AI has invaded Germany from southern France and also landed in Libya.
Also working to finish my "cat proof" wargaming table (pictures when it's done). I'll set up my copy of Third Reich on it as well. My goal is to totally grok this game. I'm really enjoying it so far (PC version).
Continuing my campaign in Achtung Panzer:Operation Star.
Iron Front MP tomorrow.
Overtime Sunday.

DOS based. It works perfectly fine using DOSBOX. Yes, it had some issues so you need the 1.38 patch. I also have the "3RGOLD" update that was done by an individual that fixes other issues that conflict with the rules. After applying those, it is a fine and challenging game. My favorite PC wargame at the moment in fact. It helped me learn the rules for the boardgame which I plan to teach to my son. The PC version of the game lets me try out different strategies rather quickly and easily.
If you played the original Third Reich boardgame, or ever wanted to, this is a fine way to do it. You can find an abandonware copy of the game easy enough.
One comment on the game play however; Third Reich is very regimented and very "chess" like. One false move could put an entire army out of supply and in peril. If you forget to SR or move a fleet during the proper phase, then it's "oh well" and you suffer for it. The PC game enforces those rules and I think it will make you a much better player. Some of the original criticism was that the AI was weak. I'd like to see a newer review that takes into account the patched game because this game kicks my butt every time!
i owned Third Reich and it crashed that often it was unplayable on my system

I've been looking at The Burning Blue really hard...my FLGS has a copy on clearance and I almost picked it up last week. I think that I will have to grab it next time if it's still there. How is the complexity level? Hard to learn or not so bad?

You really have to learn the rules of the boardgame or you will just get frustrated but if you invest the time to learn the system it is one hell of a good game; IF you like structured games to where each move is an important one. It's not just a "move up your lines and attack with your strongest guys" type of game. Each move must be very calculated and precise. Most enjoyable. Use DOSBOX to play it and it's quite stable.

@GJK:
The Burning Blue is pretty complex. I'm not groggy enough to really compare it to another game, but there is a lot of stuff going on.
The thing is, Brimmicomb-Wood has really nailed it with these more operational level air warfare games. Tactical level is neat, but truly surpassed by flight simulators, IMO. Operational level on the PC is really weak, and that's where his boardgames shine.
The Burning Blue has a butt-load of historical research in it. For that alone it's almost worth the price. There is a lot going on in the game, and GMT rates its complexity pretty high, I can't remember the exact number but it's like a 7 out of 9 I think, but if you grasp air warfare it's not that hard to pick up.
I recommend it highly. It's a great game, super awesome components as usual for GMT, and it's going to hold its resale value in the future I'm sure. A safe bet to pick up and try for sure.
^ shame it's not solo :(
I'd quite like a solo operational air war game... pacific, Battle of Britain, Allied bombing of Germany...if anyone knows of any...throw me a bone pls
There are downloadable solo rules for Lee Brimmicombe-Wood's previous game Downtown.

Heathens. AoW:SM is one of the best strategy games EVAR!
In non-digital weekend gaming news, I just beat my lady at Android:Netrunner to take the series 3 games to 2. I win! The last game couldn't possibly have been closer, either. We were both on 6 points each, I had an agenda installed with three pieces of ice protecting it, and I knew she had the capability to steal it on her next turn. Thankfully I was able to spend my last credit/click advancing it, and won by the narrowest of margins. :D

Well - there are the old grigsby games over a matrix - battle of britain and bombing the reich. They both come in one pack now I think.
Like most grigsby games the interface is a bit of a pain.
Then defending the Reich over at HPS - British Night Raids against germany - I have it but never really played it.
Erm ... Cant think of any operational stuff apart from that.
Edit... Sorry - you meant boardgames....
AH's 'Luftwaffe' has an option to play the basic game as the Germans against the Eighth Air Force using a number of preplanned raids that are then put in envelopes and shuffled. The German player sets up and then opens a random American raid plan which he then executes against himself. He must still play the US escort fighters against his own Luftwaffe units during the American turn but that is only a part of the overall game. You can find the game on eBay from time to time. There are also some at Boardgamegeek.com.
Here is the rulebook hosted at Boardgamegeek so you can decide if it is worth pursuing:

You will have to log in or register to d/l it.

Sounds quite a bit like where Paradox got the idea for Warlock. Now THAT is a game! ;)
Haha! Warlock is fun but it's a mere toy compared to AoW! :)
I played AoW and don't remember it being that fun. I still have it installed. Maybe I'll give it another go. Can you MP?
You can, but I've never tried. I'm quite happy playing skirmishes against lots of AIs. :)
Noticed that Pinball FX2 released on Steam. Tried it out last night. I've now bought three of the table packs and I'm eying the other three.
If you like pinball, give it a try. Really well designed virtual tables that also incorporate things that could never actually happen on a physical table. Like Darth Vader force crushing pinballs. Or Boba Fett jetpacking from one platform to another. Or Thanos turning the entire play surface upside down and backwards. THAT was an interesting experience. ;D

I know! There are several unbelievable things about me getting the Burning Blue now:
1) Why didn't I get it before (the answer is -- I think-- that there have been so many BoB board games that just rehashed the idea that if the Germans had just knocked out the radars and concentrated on the RAF Fighter command they would have won -- this makes for a really sterile game in that what the RAF does is pretty fixed)??
2) And everything that has changed about informed perception of the BoB -- Stephen Bungay being one summary (though you have to read The Wages of Destruction first because SB still believes the Germans had not fully over-mobilized their economy by 1940 -- ie to the point that the railroads were already falling apart) -- anyway SB's The Most Dangerous Enemy + The Wages of Destruction + The Burning Blue -- gives a very different world for the BoB, one in which there is no formula for an overall Luftwaffe victory (since there's no real chance of that), so the battle is about what happens to each set of raids -- though even at that level theBB provides a completely revised frame work ( HF/R/T relays alone is a big change). And of course there is original research embodied in theBB.

Well, the Burning Blue is going to be solo when I play it. I'll set up a best case for a particular raid and then let it be randomized by circumstances. This kind of raid randomization is actually built into theBB, but the German player (who doesn't exist when I play solo),
has to do things like roll and be "bound by honour" (here I quote the rules) to do as the roll says.
This solo mode worked pretty well in PQ-17 (which probably should have been designed as Solo since the Germans don't have many good options and Ultra and other intercepts and breaks let the RN read their mail anyway), so I'll keep at it.

So what really happened? I mostly played FOTS with a little RO2 and a little CLOD.
I was within a hair's breadth of winning my M2TW campaign and was foiled by the Castilians. Now I am being attacked by the Sicilians too, further pushing back my victory. Didn't play anything else like i hoped, but CK II is imminent in the next week or so...
I ended up playing a little Klingon Academy and Crusader Kings 2 after I got back from Fargo Sunday afternoon.
I've also finally finished tweaking Birth of the Federation's Balance of Power mod to my liking -- finally getting ready to do another AAR.
I ended up doing all World of Tanks.. I know, I joined the show late, but it's frustrating and addicting at the same time!.. I'm sure I'll grow tired of it at some point.. lol.. my light tier IV tanks, fighting monster 7's and 8's is getting tiresome (when you get hits and they still say 100%).. lol.. I know I know, gotta upgrade properly..
I couldn't be arsed with WoT when I eventually got round to it.
It was very much like all my experiences online (WoW, Eve Online, Battlefield 3) where people who have significantly upgraded think it's funny to pound a n00b.
I really couldn't be bothered with that online mentality - which is why I steer slear (for the most part) from online play.
It's a shame - because I thought it looked pretty interesting...
i am a noob in all things game like, but i never got that impression in WoT. at least in the low tier battles i am stuck in i always know why i was killed and never met the gold buying teen monster from hell.
but maybe they tweaked that aspect a little.
