You should all really try and make some time this weekend (not Sunday night) to get the next turns in. The weekend gaming looks like a lot of mowing the lawn, really. Two actually. With a push mower. Both more than half an acre. But, there will be CKII merriment and certainly some Civ IV MP.

As of 11:30 PST tomorrow, I am on vacation until July 8th. Going to split my gaming time between Distant Worlds: Shadows, Endless Space, Rift, Xenonuats, Vicky 2, Birth of Rome, ETW+ACW Mod, and World War One Gold. I'm also highly considering picking up Scourge of War Gettysburg 150th Anniversary Edition, but $80 is a bit steep for a series I don't know much about. Maybe a single ship patrol scenario in Steel Wolves.
Of course I will also be taking some breaks from gaming to get out and enjoy the nice weather we are supposed to have next week with some shooting, fishing, maybe some golf, and of course lighting of a ton of fireworks on the 4th.

Tomorrow if anything it'll be FPS based I'm sure of it.
Sunday - I really need to get a grip of my modelling. There's longer, lighter days just now and one of the things that kills modelling for me in autumn/winter is the earlier nights and bad light. So I should get a move on with my Challenger II. I'll likely game as well...maybe some Wargame:Airland Battle? Or finish Far Cry 3 which is sitting there begging me to complete.

I'll almost certainly be playing more Distant Worlds: Shadows and Shogun 2 Total War. I also hear Klingon Academy and Crusader Kings 2 beckoning to me...

i can only come from the MP side - its been brilliant with HUW - its not a co-op or anything just Huw has his empire, i have mine and we voice chat and share intel - that alone has been cool
the game itself is an utter joy, i for one enjoy the combat side of things, the research tree is magnificent and makes perfect sense back out in the universe and the UI is the best in any game, ever

Wargame ALB - watched a youtube vid of a guys British deck creation and then the game he played with that deck - very good watching, and used British forces exactly how id assume you would, behind enemy lines, cutting supply lines and ambushing - cant wait to give it a try

Tomorrow I head out to Martok's Land of Plenty on my annual baseball pilgrimage to watch a few games with the indefatigable Minnesota Twins. When I return I plan on diving full bore into Company of Heroes 2, continue my Van Helsing game and start a new campaign of Fall of the Samurai.

It looks like a rainy Canada Day weekend here in Halifax :( so perfect for reading, movie watching and gaming :). Since I just pulled the trigger on Distant World Shadows my plan is to finally dive into this game and to continue my Panzer Corps and Shogun 2 campaigns.
To all going on your well deserved vacations I say, "Enjoy and please stay out of jail if possible". Skyrim's captured my head again and it's not letting go. I just took Merida's Beacon to her and an un-dead ass kicking is to follow. I just can't say no to a giant statue with great breasts.
I just playing Last of us on the PS3. Hopefully I'll get some time on this this weekend, as well as maybe some DCS action and COH2.

Somehow I missed Fragile Allegiance when it was released back in '97. It seems to be a deep, and somewhat different, take on the SF4X genre, and since it's only $3 from GOG, I thought I would give it a shot this weekend.
That, and now that I'm back on my feet, more Lock 'n Load testing.

Aside from the ones I've already mentioned, nothing immediately comes to mind. Like I'd said earlier, my culinary & drinking experience in the Cities has been sadly limited, especially compared to the amount of choices available to me. :-[
Actually, there is on other place I've since thought of, which is the 5-8 Club (http://www.5-8club.com/). Their burgers are simply orgasmic IMO! I'd not mentioned the 5-8, however, because the nearest one to downtown is in south Minneapolis (and I don't know how far out of the way that would be for you and the guys), plus it's a popular destination, so you might end up waiting for quite some time, (depending on just how large your group is). Also, it's a regular restaurant, not a bar, although they do have a good selection of beer available.
Oh, and speaking of beer: No matter which places you guys go drink at, you are required to order at least one Blue Moon, preferably with an orange slice (it usually gets served that way by default). You'll thank me later. :)

And some bloody fighting in the fog in ARMAIII -- recon OPfor with silencers vs Green Army with more men and even a truck. The truck is useful for drawing fire from the concealed recon OPFOR sometimes.
FWIW - those of you w/ Civ V DLC might want to check out the "Conquest of the New World" scenario. Short, compact, and interesting challenges. It's a tough one to win, and can be played in an easy afternoon

^^Not yet. I am still getting used to the A/H controls. There is A LOT going on in this game, and it's too bad they don't have any tutorials.
So I spent the free-time in the weekend making some progress in Skyrim including finishing the Merida's Beacon quest. And what a great dungeon crawl the final quest was. I was truly lost part of the time in the dungeon twists and turns back on itself and the monsters and loot was just about right, not too easy, not too tough. If you haven't tried this quest out yet, I highly recommend it. :)
Played Distant Worlds for most of Saturday and Sunday. Stayed up late last night playing the ACW mod for ETW. Probably the most fun I've had with ETW. Definitely has that one more turn/battle feel.

The last fight in that dungeon can really suck if your not careful. Every time I do it I end up dying 2-3 times before I finally kill the boss.
Just got back from NYC the other day so I have not played anything really. Did get in a couple of Missions with Tuna and the group from SimHq on Iron Fron Saturday. I am currently wanting to get the Airbus X Extended down so I hope to be doing several flights with it this week. With all the screens of the Civil War mod, I will have to download that one as well......

I'm not sure if I did that quest, but I do remember one dungeon crawl where I got truly lost. Even with the map I couldn't find my way back out. I was playing at night with the lights off and a few beers in me and I no shit started getting a bit creeped out. I had cleared most of the monsters, but the environmentals, the wind and creaking and all that crap along with an increasing feeling of desperation of not finding the exit really started to spook me out a bit.
I spent the entire weekend working through one single scenario in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy.
I'm playing the second mission of the "Courage and Fortitude" campaign on Iron difficulty, using the latest version of CMBN where they've made machine guns much more lethal. In this scenario you have to take and cross a stone bridge in a flooded valley and advance on a German held hill. This is almost no cover. You have 90 minutes and your reinforcements trickle in over the course of the first hour. I'm playing turn-based.
A couple of times I probably could have squeaked out a victory with a brute force push and accepted the casualties. Every video I've watched ends with a third or more of the American battalion as causalities. I just can't accept that - this is a campaign, and I may need this battalion in good shape later. So, I keep working through new approaches...
Last try tonight. If this doesn't do it I'm taking the loss!
I didn't even bother trying that one after reading about it online. It seems there are much better campaigns.

These certainly are tough fights, particularly after the latest patch. After giving it some thought and really internalizing that I wasn't playing with modern US Infantry/Marines and M1A2s like in CMSF, I think I've hit on the necessary tactics.
What I can tell you is that all the AARs I've watched on Youtube (and much of the advice on the CM forums) miss using the critical asset of artillery effectively in this mission. The briefing actually tells you what your tactics ought to be, if you just pay attention to it. This scenario is proving to be a pretty interesting learning experience, if I can remember the lesson the next time I have to try a frontal assault across open ground.
One of the scenarios in the "Road to Monteborg" campaign has you attacking fortified German positions, flanked by mine fields, with AT defenses and mortars. You get one beat-up battalion and 4 Stuart light tanks. The only way to win is to use your arty. effectively( 105mm mortars & 8in. howitzers). Where you hit the Germans with them, you can drive a battleship through.
