a strange thing happened to me last week, and i dont know when it first occurred or when i came out of the otherside but i finally accepted (without much resistance) that im a AAA game release whore. I used to be right upto about 2006/7 when i first met LB and Jarhead and Les the Sarge (!!) at Wargamer, and was introduced to WitP, HTTR and other none multi million dollar budget games, and have wallowed around looking for the right games to play and jumping from genre to genre and game to game never feeling quite happy with my lot. But in the last few months ive Shogunned, i will be doing more shogunning with FOTS, Wargame Airland Battle, im looking forward to XCOM at last and am bursting at the seams for Rome and Arma III and i sit there with a big fat contented smile on my face

It went well.. although, kind of lopsided. He created a QB in which I got 3 Panthers, they seemed kind of superhuman, think they took out like 10 Shermans.. I haven't looked at the final screen yet, but he did put some hurt on them by the end.. one got knocked out and one lost it's 75mm.
But it was a good learning experience for me game play wise.. that H2H and Dropbox are phenomenal tools!.. I didn't know we were playing in your folder!

I'll be Black Sharking it - I've gone through the startup procedure time and time again. I don't think I'll ever get it without a sheet - but I've got it. I also ticked a box relating to TRIM and it seems to be much easier than it was previously (thanks to whomever mentioned the videos on youtube.

You should know better than that. No one can ever sit down for just 2-3 turns of Civ that usually turns into hundreds of turns hours later. ;D

I'm going to try to squeeze in some gaming this weekend. It will be tough though as I'll be playing a mandatory game called 'Help the wife recover from surgery'. I'm getting better at it but there is a long road ahead until I finish this game.
But I do want to try to fire up some World War 1 Gold and get ready for the PBEM game Jason is planning. Then I'll try to get some more cheevos out of my third and most likely final Mass Effect playthrough. I've got some Lego Batman 2 that I want to do before going back to some Warlock and Endless Space.
But most likely I'll be leveling up and working on my mad skillz in the aforementioned Post Op Recovery game.

Oh you Skyrim innocents. The Wabbajack is, as REAL TES players know, the best staff in the game. It transforms whatever it hits into another randomly generated object. And it has tremendous range. Seriously, I didn't know much about it either until I got it and looked it up on Wikipedia. I won't say how to get it but it's yours after completing the "Mind of Madness" quest beginning in Solitude. It's a VERY weird quest and after a certain point in the Blue Palace, you will be unable to leave the quest until it is completed. So save often. It's a very short quest but fun. I haven't tried the Wabba out much as yet but I did pull it on a dragon once and I think it scared him off as all I saw was his big ass heading over the nearest hill and he didn't come back. It says it's worth about 5000 gold. I'm afraid to give it to Lydia to use, she might turn me into a skeever by mistake. If you never hear from me again, that's probably what happened.

Read on the forums it was originally scheduled for July 4th, then delayed. Some say mid July now, others say no firm date and will be done, when done.

I remember that quest now. When I did my mage play through I mainly used the Staff of Jyrik Gauldurson. I only switched on the few fights where the Staff of Magnus, with the mod that fixes the absord, was somewhat useful.
When I got back to Solitude I tried out Wabba on the town guards. The first one turned into a mudcrab then the next into a deadric prince followed by more crabs. Chaos insued. ;D

I figured for $20 it was worth the risk and I believe the sale ends tomorrow. My initial impression is it feels "old". However, it is old and I expected it to feel that way. UI is not as intuitive out of the gate, but I am sure I'll figure it out. Turns can last a long time depending on how many AI units need to move. Kind of a strange thing happens to my desktop after playing the game. The brown colors from the game bleeds into all my other applications where I have to restart to clear up those colors....must be some kind of leak or something.
In the end, I am sure worth it based on what others say and if you have played any other Tiller games, feels similar in most ways...

Actually managed to startup my Black Shark, take off, follow a route, hover, follow my route, hover, popup, drop down, pivot, hover at 5-10ft, fly at speed at NOE, return to base and land. I have played it pretty much exclusively today - a total of about 4 hours.
For some reason in the sim world I find "cheat" starting up to be unacceptable and yet for shutting down, it's cool.
Really starting to enjoy this and getting average at controlling it. And I haven't fired a shot yet.

I don't think the AI uses much airpower or helos until you jack it up to Hard, if any at all. Perhaps they've adjusted that in the last update or two but I don't recall seeing the AI use them on me much until that level. So get comfortable with beating it on normal before going up another notch.
So far for me its mainly been Wargame with some Sins of a Solar Empire Trinity/Rebellion. Gave up on my current Distant Worlds campaign last night. Still have pirates set too high. Was 20+ years in and had already made contact with 15-20 pirate factions. Thought I had turned them down to normal and the level below that. Its not bad when you know only 3-4 factions but after that its just gets to be too much. Not really in the mood to go through the whole pre-warp stage again so I'm gong to shelve the game for a few days before starting a new game.

Thanks, that was about where I thought it'd be. Ended up buying the CMFI/GL bundle from Battlefront, since I can't seem to get enough of that right now with CMBN/CW.

Perhaps it was just airstrikes that it didn't use much unless on Hard difficulty.
I do seem to recall the AI sending out helos on occasion, at Normal.
So, between the paddling pool inflation, the wrong hose pipe connection spraying water all over the kitchen, the bbq-ing and setting fire to the dandelion patch, and the mass 'creatures of the night' invasion as all the house windows were open, i mainly managed:
1. WG:ALB - as mentioned above, first skirmish victory but felt a little souless as it was a points victory and it just ended mid-flow, ill change to domination or whatever it is
2. SoaSE - great old game with Huw, done much reading on it and am looking forward to carrying on with our campaign
3. XCOM - played the opening mission last night before bed - unbelievable, loved every minute of it - im going to like this

Ended up doing a LOT of Civ V this weekend. Friday and Saturday night, MP with Barth, Tent and Panzers East. Stophro joined for color commentary (doesn't have BNW, so didn't play).
Yesterday, I did something like 10 hours SP. Had the "One more turn bug". Lol surprised the missus didn't get upset, but she didn't so it was a good day!
I played Civ 5 for about 5 hours total which is alot for me too. Awesome game with Brave New World, just awesome.
