Ok. Here's the game. I'm going to post a song to start us off. Then, the next song has to have something in common with the previous song. It can be a signifigant word in the title of the song or band name. It can have band members in common. It can even be a remake if you'd like. You just have to state the connection if it's not obvious.
First up, my favorite Zeppelin song ever:
Them Crooked Vultures (John Paul Jones plays bass for both bands):
Queens of the Stone Age (Josh Homme is lead singer for both bands):
Foo Fighters (Dave Grohl drums for the preceding two bands (thus completing my shameless plug for Them Crooked Vultures because JOHN PAUL JONES PLAYS BASS FOR THEM AND ZEPPELIN KICKS ASS!!!!!!! (Sorry, a bit of a fly off the handle moment. Back under control now. Carry on.))):
So. You can post one song or a string like I did. But your first has to directly connect to the previous posts last song. Oh. And as a favor to me, please, I beg you, do NOT post a Nirvana song to make the connection. Ever if you can help it, but especially now. Thanks ;)
Great thread, MD. Here's mine - Learning to Fly by Pink Floyd (sorry can't embed from Vimeo)
http://vimeo.com/user6876063/httpvimeocom23640120
just to put us on an Escher-like loop...
the drummer played on David Gilmour's solo tour, and the guitar player... well, a few of you might know who he is
Paul Rodgers sang with a little band called Bad Company before the Firm.
Kid Rock covering Bad Company
Not that I'm looking to just do copycats, but Susanna Hoffs also covered Feel Like Makin Love and she's much hotter than Kid Rock :P
if you've got her covering songs, have her cover something cool, instead of crappy Bad Company songs (to be fair, most Bad Company songs are pretty crappy...)
(ignore the fact that the moron who uploaded the video mis-titled it)
and now for some deep-diving following of the leader...
Susanna Hoffs studio version of that song appeared on a compilation from Eddie Bauer in 1999 (http://www.amazon.com/EDDIE-INVITE-SPRING-COLLECTION-CONTEMPORARY/dp/B006XM9LWM) with this song by Hothouse Flowers
of course, Hothouse Flowers also once covered "I Can See Clearly Now" on SNL (the night Susan Lucci was on) and on their album "Home"
Eagle Eye Cherry also covered it, but I can't find a video of it, so we gotta go with Kermit Ruffins and the BBQ Swingers
and I'll let y'all pick it up there and see where you manage to go with that one ;)
Kermit Ruffin doing Try A Little Tenderness by Otis Redding
Did you actually know who Kermit Ruffin is? Or just random googlin'? 8)
And hard to top Ducky covering Otis in Pretty in Pink
Ok, I'll play.

edit: fixed your video link for you
Two of my favorite Ronnie James Dio songs
Thank you for getting us out the Rainbow Connection loop. I thought that my post would take us to Weezer, not another version of Rainbow Connection!!
at the end of the rainbow is a pot of gold.
fools gold.
if you're going to show us some lightning, then show us some rockin' lightning
Did someone say lightning?
I give up, the Youtube tags don't work for me anymore!!
You're using the wrong youtube link. Don't use the URL from the nav bar
Go below the video and hit the "Share" button, and then grab the URL that's there
compare
your URL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anOOJaCAabw&feature=player_detailpage&t=12
share URL http://youtu.be/anOOJaCAabw
see what happens...
The nav bar URL will prefequently include info about how you got that page (so you can backtrack), as well as whether any add'l features (lists, frames, etc) should appear on-screen, but the youtube tags on forums don't parse that info b/c it's page-level info, and not specific to the video.
Aha! Oddly, using the url from the nav bar used to work for me, until about a month ago.
Thanks for the tip!

Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't, depending on the video, and how you got to it. But using the "share" link below the video has always worked for me

Sorry. Been a long day. Thanks for going down the Zeppelin road. Tea for...one?
Keeping with Zep....although not a very good recording, I'm sorry to say.
