The last week has been pretty crazy for me, so, it's with great relief that Friday has arrived. The best I can tell is that Civ will be played. Beyond that, I do not know. If anything else turns up, I'll let you know ;)
This weekend i am going to play the following games:
- Armada 2526 Supernova. Pbem and one game solo.
- Spartan/Gates of Troy: as the Roman empire, i am going to invade Greece....muahahaha!
Maybe something else, don't know yet....time is thin...

Sunday I am performing an homage to my elder sister - we went to see Star Wars IV:A New Hope, Star Wars V:The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars VI:Return of the Jedi all at once at The Odeon Cinema in 1984 - and they've been on telly and I've recorded them - so my homage will be to sit through all 3 films on Sunday. I'll likely be able to squeeze in some gaming and I feel some DCS Black Shark and a boardgame...I might fire up Phantom Leader or possibly Band of Heroes

Got on a roll last night and beat 3 bosses in Dark Souls. I'm sure I'll get my payback tonight...
Most of these weekend will spent resisting preordering Rome II. Other than that I have no idea what gaming I'll actually get in. Hopefully something will strike my fancy that I can dive into.
I've begun an official countdown to Rome 2's release. About a month to go. In the meantime I'm taking a short break from Civ V for some AoE II HD, some Bioshock: Infinite and maybe some.Dishonored: Knife of Dunwall. Will also be buying SC: WWI and Breakthrough.
Up early tomorrow to go spend the day shooting up in the mountains, so I probably won't much gaming time in tomorrow. Probably a good thing because I'm in a slump. 30+ games on my computer, not to mention the uninstalled ones and Steam, GOG, and GG and none of them seem to be holding my attention. SO I have no idea what I'm goign to be playing. Probably some more Wargame and Civ V but beyond that I have no clue. I have been thinking of doing a mod for something, leaning towards Distant Worlds. But finding an interesting Sci Fi universe that hasn't;t already been done is not as easy at it would seem.
Holidaying with undercover junior in a motorhome round the UK - didn't even know it was Friday - dunno if that's a good thing
So far there has been swimming pool using the slide of doom DLC, freezing my knackers off in the outdoor pool III and trying to fit a weeks shopping in a fridge the size of a shoe box
Back on Sunday when I should partner up with huw and kick alien ass in sins - our last session destroyed one enemy and left the other at a severe disadvantage - this session should see their end - then maybe some dota 2 or more endless space

You get to be one of us singing the game's praises from day one while others watch in envy and frustration. ;) My wife gives me odd comments about my games too. She thinks everyone in Shogun 2 is cussing in Japanese, that all the men in CMBN look like ants when running across a field, that all the women in Skyrim are flirting with me, and that I spend way too much time with Lydia in dark places by ourselves. But she likes the kids in Skyrim especially the ones that want to play tag and she hates the spiders. Me too.
If I preorder Rome2, do I get to play it before those who didnt? If so...sold

Not trying to. I'm simply setting the bar low so that if Rome 2 actually turns out to be a good game I won't be disappointed.
I'll probably play some more Rising Storm, alternating between enjoying myself and wanting to kill everyone involved with the game. I might get back to Hitman : Absolution, or maybe start up something else purchased recently.

I've gone back toward being somewhat pessimistic on this one. Hearing those American voice actors -- just like in the first RTW -- did not raise my confidence level any. I know it's a ridiculously small thing to harp on, but to me it's a bad omen for the game's atmosphere/immersion.

I wasn't feeling too good Friday so stayed home...but found the energy to put in a bit more time with my Shogun 2 campaign using the last Darthmod. I am playing the Hojo who are now masters of all the north and have now triggered the Realm Divide. Fortunately our Takeda allies have remained true and are siding with us in our war with the remaining clans. Interesting times...
Before going to bed I had anotehr go at Sea Lion 1942 which is the next mission in my campaign and was appalled at my losses just getting to the beach. I really don't see any way to get past the Royal Navy and Airforce without losing an unacceptable number of my core units. I may have to go back a few missions and see if I can get to Sea Lion 1940 which is supposed to be a bit easier.
Finally finished Wars in America's Revolutionary War campaign as the British and I think I want to step away from the Ageod games for a little while.
Starting to learn East India Company.
Some Battleground Europe action.
And maybe some World of Tanks which I haven't played for a few months.
Played about 20 minutes of the Witcher 1. Picked it up on sale a few months ago. My first impression of it is not good. So far I hate the combat system. Maybe it gets better as the game goes one or maybe I'm just used to the "twitched" based combat of Skyrim. My character just stands there getting hit rather then attacking. I'll do some research as to what, if anything, I'm doing wrong.
Played a few hours of CK2 the Old Gods as well. Only got a few years in until I accidentally gave away my two primary titles. Going to have to figure out what to do about Gavelkind succession. Apparently the old trick of giving all your titles to your eldest son when your main character reaches old age doesn't work anymore.
So far I've spent several hours playing Evochron Mercenary for some reason.
Going to spend some time playtesting Flashpoint Campaigns for a bit now.

I must stop reading this thread. The temptation to make / paint a kit is almost too great to withstand when JD posts piccies. Its been years since I did any models and there are just so many good 'uns on the market to choose from.

I've been thinking of getting into modeling again, but I have nowhere to put the damn things when they're finished!
Anyway, I played the heck out of Skyrim last night. Cleared out the Blackreach dungeon and fought Alduin, opening up Act III of the main quest. Sadly, I seem to be powerless to develop a new character- I'm creating yet another Spellsword-type fighter/mage again, in full plate armor specializing in conjuration magic. ::)
My goal is to complete the main quest and then move right into Dragonborn, unless I get sidetracked by doing Dawnguard one more time.

Same here.. I got a ton of 'unopened' kits sitting on shelf in the cellar.. lol.. only thing saving me, I think is all my Acylic paints are probably dried up!
^Ouch yes, I had to junk a stack of acrylic paints (mainly GW jars) because they had 'gorn orf'. However, all my brushes are in good condition as I always tried to look after 'em, and decent brushes for acrylics can be quite expensive. Anyway, it would cost a fortune to buy new paints, so I got nil chance of kit building / painting again :(

Kushan do you have that new area mod? It was developed by one guy and is about 1/3 the size of Skyrim itself. The developer put it together to try and get a job in level design at Bethesda. The actual name escapes me but it is setting the internet all abuzz.

Falskaar I believe is the mod your referring too? Downloaded Saturday. Part of the reason I want to jump back in. The gaming press and fans alike seem to be loving it right now. Pretty good for a 19 year old kid. From what I understand he did all the coding work himself, got 30 voice actors/family/friends/etc to do voices and had someone do another 40 minutes of music.
Been watching Falskarr too. It's at nexus only not available from Steamworks as yet. I want to hear how it runs and how much new stuff is included but so far it almost sounds like a must-have. Steamworks does have individual Falskarr mods like player homes and such but not the whole mod as yet.
I completed all 5 chapters of Walking Dead. Great casual game and great story. The ending was touching but I did not shed a tear because big boys don't cry. However the ending did leave me floored.

Heathen guilt is admitted. Every Friday I try to think about playing something but Skyrim but this thread sucks me back into it. The world's huge as it is. Imagine a mod that increases the size by 1/3!!! This could be the "Rest of my Life" RPG.
I finished of the weekend by raiding the English and French coast as the grandson of Ragnar Lodbrok in CK2 the Old Gods. My Great Heathen Army is down to about half strength so I'm starting to to rely on levy's and my retinue for my main army strength. Slowly picking away at the English and Scottish kingdoms. In another 20 years or so I should have most of the island under my control assuming that my looming succession crisis (I have only daughters) doesn't end my reign completely.

Didnt play anything except Civ5 BNW. Playing as William of Orange. Forgot how addictive the game is. Love the Dutch frigate-type ship "Beggar"...it can capture enemy warships
Okay, *finally* got in a little BOTF today. The changes I made feel okay, but I need to play more to see how the AI handles them. I don't want to cripple it even more than it already is.

I got a little teary at the end.
Check out the 400 Days DLC. Five little mini stories, each one of which features at least one decision that will kick you in the teeth. It sounds like some of the characters will be involved in Season Two.
As for my gaming, I think I might be burnt out on
Rising Storm for the time being. Good grief is that game engine a glitchy mess.

And you know what? I regret dropping 10.00 on AoE II HD. I just feel idiotic playing it when games like S2, Civ V, WH40K II and a host of others are on my hard drive too. I mean AoE II is still enjoyable to a point and the exploits are quick to come back to you even after 15 years, but sometimes you just can't go home again.
This is one of those times.
I really liked AoE II but I prefer a slower paced game. I just wanted the AI to leave me alone for a little while and build a few things without it's armies coming and tearing them down. I did 2 things in my FOTS campaign that I really wanted to do. See the HMS Warrior and the Gatling Gun in action. The last big fight, an enemy Yari-Ki Cav. unit charged one of my Gatling guns and they wiped them out to a man. I actually cheered out loud. Thanks for the good wishes Gus.

I had a run of crashes for a few days, but that seems to have sorted itself out.
I'm just annoyed with glitches in the damn game. Everyone talks about how the death rates are high because of the game difficulty, but they're also elevated because the game itself is kind of a mess. I have no issues with being killed because I do something dumb, or someone gets the drop on me, or they're a quicker shot or what have you. That's fine. But the number of times I've bought it because the game just pukes up yet another glitch... >:(
I cannot count the number of times I've died because the cover system glitched up and suddenly I was kneeling ON the wall I'm supposed to be BEHIND.
Or the number of times I can't go prone...on clear ground or in light foliage.
Or how I'll actually have a good squad leader, so I keep spawning on him. Good stuff...until the game inexplicably decided that my spawn point will be an open courtyard 80 feet away from him in the middle of sniper alley.

Slash was the Warrior your own? And come to think of it I don't remember if I have seen Gatling guns in action in my last game of FOTS. It's been a while.
Yes. I picked the Saga Clan so I could get it as early as possible. The Gatling makes the AI rush a lot more easy to handle but the AI will often single them out for targeting so you've got to give them some protection. I Tech'ed up to where I could build my own Ironclads but the one class of ironclad available wasn't too impressive, only a few guns and the rear guns are exposed but the Ironclad Frigates are for real.
Dammit I haven't got back to FOTS in such a long time, I miss it. And with Rome 2 looming and me liking to start new TW games clean like you...I am in a gaming pickle. Too many good games!
I've been thinking about my unfinished games of NTW, ETW, Third Age and the Chivalry II mods but I'm going to try to finish-up some Combat Mission stuff before Rome II. I wish somebody would show Band of Brothers again so I'd get the CM itch. :'( :'(

Ah, the sadness before the return to the ancient world. I watched part of Band of Brothers off the DVDs just a few days ago.
But then I went and played some Operation Star with hordes of Cubans running wild in Angola in T-55s. Zoom in! Watch the giant bomba plants tumble!
Fortunately, I'll be vacationing at the beach for half of August and then it is only few weeks til Rome II comes out.

^That's the nice way to put it. Others would call it OCD. Just started the 'Into the Renaissance' campaign of Civ V as the Byzantines. About 55 turns in, cool scenario. The Austrians are big bullies!
