Nice game but the system is a bit long-in-the-tooth.

Good review.  I completely agree that the game engine results in casualty figures that are way too high.  I rationalize that what's actually going on is that the casualties actually represent stragglers and the like, but still...

I've been beating my head against the Fox's Gap scenarios of Antietam the past few evenings.  I love the map, but am puzzled as to why the scenario designer has reduced multi-hour battles to 40 minutes or an hour.
