Sure. The pre-orders were announced in August.  The game is ready now, so why keep the offer?  You snooze, you lose.

I believe the $10 off was if you were getting the phyiscal copy.  If only getting download version, really no difference in pre ordering.

I got both for $35. I got the D/L today.

Fine print: If you would like to order just the download, please wait until the game is released (in approx. 4-6 weeks). All games ship from our main location in the US, import VAT and other import fees may apply for international customers in addition to the Shipping & Handling charge. When you preorder, your credit card or Paypal account is charged immediately, and not when the item ships. The special $10 discount for preorders means that instead of paying $45/$50 plus S&H for the download & mail delivery after release, you only pay $35/$40 plus S&H. The discount expires after the game is released.

I am still deciding myself, especially with recent purchases of Command and ACW2...might have to way a bit if I decide to take the plunge.  Will read all the impressions first to see what folks think.  Not many so far at the official forums, but just came out so hopefully over the next couple of days it will start to flow.  If anybody over here goes for it, would love to hear what you think.  I am going to guess it is more the same as the previous modules (except for bridges).  First module I have not pre-ordered so kind of weird that I am not playing already:)

What do you want to know?

There don't seem to be a lot of scenarios in the new game, and only one campaign from what I can tell. There do seem to be a decent selection of QB maps. There are a few new vehicle types (M18 tank destroyer, M16 AA ht, Crusader tank), gun types (most importantly AA guns, but they can't move once set up from what I can tell), and infantry types, especially for the Germans, but they all seem organized mostly like Army troops, just in different shades of blue (there are Navy and Air Force now). A couple of new terrain types also - foot paths an some really tall trees, Dutch buildings, and apparently a windmill which I haven't found in the editor yet. Also a "ditch lock" command.

Too soon to comment on the quality of the scenarios.

The maps seem well-researched. I did my own map of Nijmegen before the release of M-G and BFC's seems very accurate, incorporating aerial bomb damage from the 1944 period.

If it would be of value, could probably post a list of all the scenarios, maps etc. that are included.

Somehow missed the responses here.....

At this point for some reason I have the itch to buy mg this weekend, likely because of the new red thunder game on the horizon.  I own all the games in the series, but this one and Afghanistan.

In the past, I actually pre ordered all of them, but held off on this one.   Any more recommendations or feedback to help me decide?  Can so done confirm the number of scenarios and campaigns that made it into the release?

I bought beyond Normandy and common wealth forces on release, but never really played much. I skipped fortress Italy altogether. I got market garden and these battles really brought me back to the game. Been playing regularly ever since.

That's exactly been my progression too....so sounds like MG might rekindle that spirit for me too...thanks.

I meant to ask this question too....how do people tend to play, real time or we-go?  Although I like real time so you can adjust things, I just find it very difficult to review the whole battlefield and control all the troops, especially if playing on anything but small level.

Exactly Reaper. I play We-Go always to re-wind the turns and see where the hell that shot that took out my Sherman came from. Otherwise I feel like I'm just feeding my troops to the game. I've played all the WW2 games but MG but will get it soon and RT but right now, I'm so behind playing the games, it'll be months before I'm ready to get to Arnhem.

Some people reserve RT for small scenarios and wego for the larger ones.

I always play wego. It is fun to review past action and see all the dramatic moments.

I only play RT, I like the idea of wego, but I prefer the control of RT.  Big scenarios do get frantic and you burn through time, I usually pause constantly every 20 sec and review the battlefield.  RT urban fighting is way more effective because you can make instant adjustments instead of waiting a minute.
Playing through road to Nijmegen myself, it's a blast.  The designer built in a 3hr play time limit if you loose two consecutive battles as a player aid.  Cm with unlimited time is a dream, slow, methodical, and tactical.

Just curious about we-go and it handles things in the newer versions.....if you setup a plan for 60 seconds, does your troops follow the exact plan regardless of changing battlefield conditions or will they improvise is something happens along the way?  For example, if you issue a movement order but they run into a big group of soldiers, will they run away or engage on their own, even if you didn't order them to do so?

I like real time because you are never quite sure what is going on and when you go to say rescue a crew that bailed out in enemy territory, you come back and find plenty of inexplicable things have happened.  You can pause of course and look around, but I prefer to get sucked into a small part of the battle and be surprised by impinging events.

Your troops will react, sometimes for better and sometimes for worse.  You can mitigate for this slightly by setting way-points, where they will pause and look around before proceeding.  One major tip is to set all your troops with short, circular firing arcs.  This stops them opening fire on the first enemy they see, giving their position away.

One of the main challenges I find in the game is getting the all-important artillery spotters into a position where they can see a significant amount of enemy-occupied ground, but aren't themselves visible.  I managed to do that in the battle I'm fighting currently - they had a great view of lots of tanks and ATGs from a copse.  Then I "crawled" a sniper team into the same spot, so that they could wreak some havoc at a later date.  However I forgot to limit the latter's field of fire and they immediately opened up on an 88, resulting in return fire from said gun and a couple of Panthers.  Spotter and snipers now casualties, plus the only decent covered vantage point for trying to land arty on the defences is blown.

One of the joys of Combat Mission is scouting and sneaking about to find the best positions for observation and approach.
