...Well, almost.
QuoteBig asteroid buzzes past Earth and will again in 19 years
(CNN) -- One of the most dangerous asteroids on record zipped close by Earth last month.
It made headlines on Thursday, when reports said that there's a chance it could strike our planet in less than 20 years. Such a collision could unleash a force as powerful as a couple of thousand atomic bombs.
But NASA was quick to calm nerves and point out some very good news. The most dangerous known asteroids don't really pose much of a threat. And there are very few of them.
Also, the chances that this one, which the Ukrainian astronomers who discovered it named 2013 TV135, will collide with Earth are extremely slim, NASA said in a statement it called "a reality check."
The space agency is 99.998% certain that when it whooshes back around the planet in 2032, it will simply sail past us again.
The probability of it striking Earth currently stands at 1:63,000, and even those odds are fading fast, as scientists find out more about the asteroid.
And the comments are, of course, of the highest caliber (calibre):

In 2032, Morgan Freeman will be our new president and will do what it takes to save us!

Like in all the films, the asteroid hits America.
Unaffected, the rest of the world, finally lives in peace and, annually celebrate in memory of the event.
It's a make feel-good film.

Oddly enough, Apophis is scheduled to flyby on good friday in 2029 and 7 years later on Easter Sunday in 2036 hit the earth. Nasa says it won't hit, Russia says it will. Guess where it's likely to hit? a swath of the north west pacific ocean extending 1/2 way across Russia.
I, for one, think we should put up a poll that decides where we should have an end-of-the-world party should one of these things come for Earth. I'm pretty sure mirth, bob, and star are at least going to be on that list somewhere.
If we're planning an end-of-the-world party, I have a hot tub that's also a time machine.
I hold a daily end of earth party in my pants.

Do you call it the Guspocalypse?
No...End of Earth, Beginning of Mirth
Flattering and disturbing at the same time.
I'm impressed. It only took two posts to get to a in-the-pants reference. That's gotta be some kind of Grogheads record, unless the post had to do with partying in one's jockstrap to begin with.
All of my posts are in-the-pants references, whether you realize it or not.

I don't think that was ever in doubt. We've just been wondering "whose pants?"

That would work! We could go back to the mid-late 70s and by the time that we got back here, we'd be too old to give a shit about getting blown-up! We'd make a killing on the stock exchange and sports betting!! PARTY!!
