Wow- I had not heard of that game until now. I didn't come across it last time I was on Compass Games' website. Maybe I just missed it.
Looks like they still have it at the preeorder price too! $42 v. $60
Nice!! Time to Blow Counters up!
Interested in knowing how it is.

If you ask nicely, and are willing to deal with my atrocious writing skills, I might be able to do that. ::)

It was included in one GARPA articles early last year. I immediately jumped on it, since solitaire naval games are hard to come by. it got delayed a few times. Original launch date was supposed to be June, then it got pushed to October, then to January. They had a buy one get $10-20 off a second game, so I bought Steel Wolves at the same time.

That's the plan. Work permitting, I'll try and do a review or an AAR on it.
I was curious about this but those counters make my eyes want to bleed profusely. :o
^ this. God, could they have made uglier counters? I think they actually DO hurt my eyes.
But did you say solo naval wargaming? Color me intrigued. Gonna have to head over to the Geek and look this up...

I agree. The counters really do look awful. Another minor complaint I have is that there isn't much unit variation. The US for instance only has carriers, individual subs, and DDG divisions (each counter represents 2 DDGS). It has no LCS's, no Ticonderoga's. The only combat aircraft for the US is the F-35, no F/A-18s. Then again, if I want to go see how well a LCS does against a Chinese frigate (not well actually), there is always Command....
Its a little misleading. To play solo you just play both sides. I've done the same thing with Command on the PC, so its not anything new to me. Might be a turn off for some. I've only read through the rules but they sound like they should be solo friendly assuming you can get passed having to play both sides. It uses a roll to evade model rather then search to find. Even in a 2+ player game, all the unit locations (except subs are known to everyone).

nice to know that GARPA is having an occasional impact :)
I do read GARPA. Just not always while fully awake I guess. :-\
