The Katana could be one of the New Republic's. While Thrawn obviously managed to grab the bulk of them, the NR did get their hands on the few still left (15 or so, IIRC).

I can't recommend Zahn's Thrawn trilogy enough. It really did set the benchmark (and remains the gold standard) for Star Wars EU novels.
