Yeah - nice one on the comp.

Perhaps you'll be able to play CMx1 now?  ;D

I will definitely be playing F1 2013. I actually really like the game. The AI seems decent enough. I've qualified 12th for my Williams team with Maldonado down in 15th. I missed out on a top ten by a couple of tenths! I really am enjoying this one and it'll likely be the only F1 game I have EVER completed a season in.

I will also be signing back up to iRacing as they have a 3 months subscription for $1. The problem with that game is it was a time sucker in so much as you needed to much practice to be able to improve and stay out of everyone's way, you had very little time for much else. It IS a great racing sim though.

I will also be firing up ARMA III and continuing the campaign. Now I have got past that god awful first mission in the second chapter, I find myself in charge of troops. That was never a highlight for me in the ARMA games. Hopefully I can be more resilient than previously.

I also have a downstairs cloakroom (toilet and sink) to dismantle so as some decorating can be done before I fit a new toilet suite. I expect that might suck some time out of my weekend.

Oh...and a new thermostat to fit. As you all know I took a bang on the head a few weeks ago and it seems to have affected my ability to avoid all things DIY related  :(

Congrats on the new rig, Dog of Metal. I will be playing Assassin's Creed III this weekend after losing yet another Shogun 2 campaign...I just can't win that game. On the bright side my family and I are finally moving back to our house after 6 long months. Good bye basement dwelling hello shiny new house.

I will be playing  Income Tax Preparation (http://www.irs.gov/) this weekend. Also some Age of Wonders III, a little Hearthstone, and maybe just a bit of World of Tanks.

Taxes are done (mine and parents); nieces are off to Disney for a week; finished Arkham Origins: Blackgate last weekend; might or might not go see Noah with Dad Saturday (saw CapAmerica last night and nothing overly interesting opens here in America today).

So definitely back to getting my Ethiopian WW1 campaign (now almost to the interwar years) up to speed. Once the war ends in-game I'm going to save, reload with the "anyone can declare war" turned back on, and see what happens until 1970! (Possibly also try overwriting with the mod that bridges the WW1 and WW2 Darkest Hour campaigns.)

I'm being cheap this weekend and pretending the American soldiers in CMBN are really Russian soldiers and I'm playing CMRT. I'll shout at the screen, "On Comrades" to cover up the sound of, "Let's go. Move 'em out" in English and wear sunglasses so the white stars on the tanks look red. That might work for about 3 or 4 turns. And then I'll either get frustrated and be the last person in the Western Hemisphere to buy the damned game or stay cheap and play Rome 2 as Carthage and pretend like I bought and am playing the Hannibal DLC.

AoW 3.  I'm jonesing for a new complex war game, and can't decide between Combat Mission or the new Flashpoint game.  Any recommendation would help.

If you like WWIII then Flashpoint is a great game. It's WEGO so no rushing your orders. Good AI. Lots of fun.

Greybriar cutting it a little close to 4/15 eh?

JD I had my house gutted and renovated. It's finally almost finished. More room for games, books and I guess my family too.

Yes, I am. I usually file the first week in February. But I was late this year and filed my federal last month, but due to a change in it (I was given an unexpected extra deduction!?) I wanted to make sure I had completed it correctly and am waiting for my refund. I'll have to wing it if it doesn't get here by Monday and file my state tax form anyway, which has also changed due to an unexpected change (for the better!) in my filing status.

The check was in the mail this morning--$729.49!! Now I can file my state income tax (it is based largely on my federal). I won't get anything back from it, but I won't have to pay anything either.

Now that I'm flush with cash, I may even buy a new PC game...or two...or three...or more...and change my gaming plans for the weekend.

theres a bit of a hiatus with the MP - currently youre forced to watch the other human players battles - add 3 players add 5 battles per turn - its going to be horrendous mid game - theyre currently patching it out but its not done yet

PE, what do you think of Warlock 2?  Now that I have the specs to be able to play it, I am looking at it again.  I've been waiting for a price drop and some impressions.  Not sure $30.00 is what I want to pay for it.

Not much gaming here this weekend, but I'm going to try to get in some Skyrim, and maybe some Morrowind.

There might be some other cat and dog gaming, but I'm going to be fairly busy, so that will probably be it.

Submitting my taxes (assuming Revenue Canada is once again accepting submissions...thanks Heartbleed!).

And since yet again I am in the center of a perfect storm of orders and trades all showing up, I will also be punching out board game components and reading rules.

Not much time for gaming this weekend. Been in a gaming slump this week. Probably play some more Diablo 3 if I time. Its the only game this week that's been able to hold my attention for longer the 5 minutes. Like to get around to CK2 with the new patch (the one from this week) or maybe with the GOT mod, but I'll probably put that off until next weekend.

Just finished mowing the lawn.  Just need to make a short trip to town and then it's gaming unlimited!  Like to get my Warlock MP on with Tuna and W8taminute.  Would also like to play some Civ IV MP. but, I've run into a patch problem.  It says I have to download patch 3.19.  I do, then I get kicked back to the menu.  Go back in to MP and it tells me I have to download the patch again.  Any ideas?  Will look over at Civfanatics, too.

Found what I was looking for at Civfanatics.

Metal Dog I find either Dominions 4 or Fallen Enchantress Legendary heroes the best fantasy x4 games. Though I haven't played Warlock 2 and I have played the first one and it was OK..neither rubbish nor superb...just a decent game.

I've been playing mostly CMRT (Playing the Red Hordes as the Germans I witnessed the best intense action I've seen in the CMx2 series so far) and WOFF.

I've always thought, from what I've read here, Dominions would be right up my alley.  Haven't tried it yet.

Post by: mikeck on April 12, 2014, 11:29:12 PM
Dominions is an amazing game. There is not much "city building" though. In each province you can build a temple or a fort. The depth comes from all of the different spells, al of the different units and how they all work together. I don't think there is a deeper game around. And it's depth and complexity is not just from micromanagement. It's about how you craft you armies, what types of spells you use, items you craft, how you arrange your armies for combat and monitoring your dominion.

I've never seen anyone disappointed with the complexity of the game.maybe the graphics but not the meat. Just don't expect a traditional city building/empire building game with different buildings creating different units

There are a few gameplay vids on YouTube.

This series seems to explain the game system quite a bit as he plays:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMIQfYIkrjA&list=PLM7yEwbhGUooISDlRy9rcQ0__senFxmHc

Should be helpful for beginners.

Note:  I posted the raw YouTube link so that you can just advance through each part of the series; it has them in order on the right.  The first one is just customizing the god & nation you'll be playing, so the meat of the game starts in later episodes.

The only Steam game I have loaded is Warlock.  I played mostly 'Do Chores,' all day yesterday.  Wasn't on until night time.  Then it was a solo Civ game I have going.  Tiny map.  I'm Stalin against Hannibal and Boudicca.  Pangaea, Conquest, on Prince.  It's 2004 and I joined Boudicca's ongoing war with Hannibal.  I cover the west of the map, Boudicca the east, with Hannibal in between.  Research is just about even.  I just got Industrialism a few turns ago to get Tanks and my army was already largest on the board.  I've taken Leptis, Hippo and the capitol, Carthage.  He hasn't been able to muster a defense and I am going to try and wipe him off the map before I stop.  Then it's consolidate my gains for twenty or thirty turns and rebuild the army.  Then it's Boudicca's turn.  Hope to have it done in less than 500 Turns.

Well, I did run some F1 2013 - though I didn't do a race - just practice in Catalunya

I also did some ARMA III - but as I mentioned, I'm not great when this game goes squad based. I'm still struggling trying to keep snipers with assault rifles from killing me. I'm on the Ambush mission

I never did get iRacing I went through the process, but bailed before paying. I just couldn't do it knowing how much time it was going to take away from my other gaming...especially F1 2013

The surprise of the weekend for me was retrying X-Rebirth. Not overly successful in my first couple of attempts because for some inexplicable reason the mouse kept going in and out of activation - so I couldn't activate any menus. However, with some tenacity (and a reboot) it eventually worked and I was enjoying the sand box game much more...though I need to get money to buy a cargo ship!

I was really, really wanting to get my Phantom Leader boxed game out - but wasn't "up with the rulz", so I've got the game out and I'm going through the rules and I hope to be playing a campaign on that game this long weekend coming. I've never done a campaign before...not a full one (or perhaps I have one)

I don't understand the intense hatred that Assassin's Creed III received. Yes the intro tutorial is long and a bit hand-holdy but it is really well done and better than a lot of movies taking place in the same era. Some gamers have become really spoiled.

Not a lot of gaming this weekend, however I am getting close to the end of my first AOW3 play through.... it definitely gets more interesting in the end.  Merlin has substantial forces and I have started a push into his southern territories.  I am allied with a ruler to the north of me, however he seems to be making no gains at present.  I think after I defeat Merlin I will claim victory.... I am aligned as Good after all.

Started a SoTS II play through on my re-visit series.   So far I have started as The Morrigi Confederation and branching out on a Disc shape map with a total of 6 factions.... so far, so good.

Finished off Boudicca to complete the Conquest VC.  Best I have ever done on Prince.  Yes, the map was Tiny.  Yes, there were only two other opponents.  Neither of those things takes the lustre off.

The series in general seems to get alot of flak..however when I have played it I've aways enjoyed it. The only issue I had was the timed platform parts which I could never do however they became less of an issue as the series went on.
