Dad Smacks Teacher with Baseball Bat After Inappropriate Texts With Daughter

edit: I'm definitely not defending what he did. I just have a severe mistrust with the news, which is pretty much the Maury Povich show without the ethics and good taste.

I always count on the news media to only tell part of the story as well. However, in this case it seems clear that the teacher crossed several lines and is lucky he didn't have his brains beaten out.

It wasn't criminal, but the police report had something along the lines of "an unusual emotional relationship" or some such. It doesn't sound like he was just texting her about homework assignments.

Pretty much all public schools now have policies against teachers contacting students directly by phone, text, email or through social media. So, even if the guy didn't commit a crime, it was almost certainly inappropriate for him to be texting her at all. At the very least, by school policy. And showing up at her house uninvited to talk with the Dad seems criminally stupid. Oh and then he apparently refused to leave when asked. Strike three.

In the end it comes down to who is protecting the girl from who? The teacher should not be involved at all. If he had a concern he should have take it to a school councellor. The fact he stepped into their house personally says he wants a personal relationship with the girl. In other words, back to the kneecapping. He should lose his teaching career. If he wants to help her emotionally he can do it in school, in public, preferably with a female teacher as witness.

Just to throw a little fuel on the fire, what if the girl confided to the teacher that something wasn't 'quite right' at home? This may have gotten him emotionally involved in the way that many male figures may develop protective feelings for a much younger female they feel to be in some kind of distress. If the teacher then confronted the father with his 'suspicions' this could have lead to the whole " I ain't leaving till I find out what's going on'!, "Oh yeah? ah'm git mah bat an' whup you!"

Still pretty stupid on the teacher's part but certainly far less pervy.
