That's very cool. It reminds me of how Walmart used to function (and might still). *Every* employee was challenged to find a way to save at least $10,000 by improving efficiency or trimming waste in their daily functions. Many saved the company millions. At times it could seem a bit absurd, but it did work. For instance - every employee in the department had to ask the VP who headed it for more paper clips. When they got them, it wasn't a box, it was a small handful. Instead of buying every employee a box of 100 paper clips they wouldn't use for several months, they bought three or four boxes and distributed them as needed.

The result? Far less waste. If you saw a paperclip on the carpet you saw money being wasted. Instead of ignoring it, you picked it up and put it in your desk. That was one more clip you wouldn't need to ask for!

Crazy? Maybe. But look at where they started and where they are today.

His theory on disaggregation reminded me of possibly why planes crash, too.
