Return to Albion 3.0

If I was going to go back to one of the X's, it wouldn't be Rebirth I have to say. It would like be X3 Reunion or (perhaps) Albion Prelude.

Everyone's taste will vary, but X3 is still a good game.  I have not had any issues with graphics or performance and my Logitech JS is working well so my experience is a little different.  I like Elite, but it needs more content and will get there.  Overall for me Rebirth feels like Guadians of the Galaxy or Han Solo... running around in my ship and making my own way.... Hacking stations, smuggling goods, borrowing ships  ;) from my neighbors... It has a lot more to do since it was released and I am trying to build an economic empire so right now setting at 3 million cedits I have a long way to go.

Played a little more and have my first station with expansion up and running.  I have tried to cap 2 ships and have failed.  But, money really is not a huge obstacle as it is right now so I am unsure if I will keep playing or not.  The missions are really not even needed any more as you can do some station protection missions and just watch as that station defenses blast the raiders out of the sky then collect some rep and credits for just watching the fight, or just leave the zone while they fight and still get the reward.

I am starting to see the, well what now kind of aspect of the game.... I mean X3 had you buying and commanding new ships, however with Rebirth it is the same ship and you command from afar..... so at this point I am wavering on seeing the point of continuing to play, money is really no object and building more stations to gain more money or issuing a Trader to complete certain trades gets to be somewhat demotivating......

I think there is enough there for that price... and the DLC looks pretty decent as well.  It is a economic sim first, and the others next..... and I still think X3 is the best in the series, but a fun romp around non the less.... I just don't think the longevity is there.  For sure try before you buy.

And I did just that....downloaded the free weekend X Rebirth last night. Looking forward to giving it a ride later today. Might just save me $13.59 or I might like it and make the purchase.

Tried out the free weekend...seems X Rebirth does not like my Wingman 3D.  It keeps confusing my Z-axis and throttle.  I've got Elite Dangerous, Starpoint Gemini 2, etc.  Ain't gonna waste time with it (for now at least).  Maybe I'll pick up X Rebirth when it hits the $5 mark next Winter/Christmas sale....
