John Tiller Software (JTS) just released Campaign 1814 for the NAP series.  You can find information over at the JTS web site located here:

Marty Ward

Cool. Has he done any work on the AI or is it still the same as when Talonsoft was making them?
If it looks like chicken, tastes like chicken, and feels like chicken but Chuck Norris says its beef, then it's beef.

If women had apostrophes instead of periods they would be even more possessive!

Just checked out the site.  This is another great addition for the fans of the nappy series.

Marty - The Tiller crew has been adding in scenarios that are designed with the AI in mind.  Whether or not they will give you a challenge really depends on your familarity with the game.  Less experience more of a challenge.  Ultimately the real challenge of the games remains in PBEM.

Cant we get better graphics than this? It's 2012 you know.

I couldn't agree more.  I know people say they are a small shop and can't afford to upgrade the graphics or people say they don't care about the graphics, but I don't buy it.  Like you said, it is 2012 already, spend a little time to improve the graphics.  If the graphics were better (don't have to be the best in world), I would probably own all their games:)

I know it seems a bit shallow, especially for a complex wargame, but, we've been tormented with these graphics for what seems like an eternity. Across all sorts of eras. American Civil War, Napoleonics etc. Just stop releasing iteration upon iteration of the same engine, with tweaked scenarios. Put some time into making the damn game play good and look good. Stop for a moment in time, and update. Then start the scenario/release system. They'd hoover a lot more players up into their money making scheme, if it wasn't so god damn awful looking, and felt like a game in the Matrix catalogue that had been discontinued.

Give me something to work with Tilller! My money is your if you can just make playing your games a pleasureable experience, and not one of a tortured and squinting badge of honour that relies heavily on my tolerance and imagination!

Hells bells, indie platformer developers can give me better looking graphics and interfaces, and they usually have squat all money and diddly established user base.

Tiller stuff is the mainstream of wargamers for donkey years.

Just make it current and enjoyable to play AND experience.

FFS!

While I agree that I'd like to see the Tiller games updated to a new engine, the fact is that the designers are not full time programmers.  They do it for love of the game and history.  They have been making improvements to some of the engines like adding in an additional zoom level in the PzC games.  I hope this makes it to all the games.  One way I work around the small chits is to change the text size in windows to 125%.  You can go higher.  You lose some map on the screen but the chits are bigger and the unit cards easier to read.

This game is released with over 113 scenarios in the main game folder and another 300 that are tied into the 10 campaigns.  That is a lot of game.  The game is also pretty tailored to a solo player.  Based on the scenario list your looking at something in the area of 50+ designed for solo play.  That is really a positive step in the right direction for solo gameplay in Tiller releases.

I have most of the Tiller titles and enjoy them....but don't know if I feel very excited about "more of the same" UI, AI and gameplay.

I own over 50 of John Tiller Titles and I really enjoy them and they are the only war games I play.  You get alot of bang for your buck and their customer service is 1st class.  Many of John Tiller's game coordinators and play testers are easily available on forum boards and easily reached via email to be able to answer game or series questions.  John Tiller games are a ton of fun to play as PBEM games.  If you haven't tried them as PBEM, you are really missing out!

It is also really nice that I don't have to go out and get a computer upgrade every time a new game title is released.  I'm currently able to play the newest release with no problems on my 6 year old computer that still runs WinXP.  I enjoy playing my games in 2D.  It is just like playing the computer version of a table top war game with cardboard counters!  There's no worry of someone knocking over stacks of counters, the cat walking over the map board or eating the counters, no missing counters, no setup or tear down time!

For me, its the only way to enjoy war gaming!  :)
