Just seen this on steam. Looks a bit like Shadow President: http://www.littlereddoggames.com/#!rogue-state/c1pcl

Anyone played this yet? Reports? The Steam reviews look good so far.

Funny, was just thinking about geo political games yesterday and wishing there was remakes for Balance of Power and Geopolitique 1990.....but of course this game likely is not that by any stretch, but might be worth checking out.

I noticed that as well and meant to look for gameplay videos.  Thanks for the reminder

It might have some potential, if it has much more depth than initially meets the eye. Has anyone played it?
The most shocking fact about war is that its victims and its instruments are individual human beings, and that these individual beings are condemned by the monstrous conventions of politics to murder or be murdered in quarrels not their own. Aldous Huxley

It's kind of silly to investigate whether or not a Clinton is lying. That's sort of like investigating why the sky is blue. Banzai_Cat

I took the plunge. Not regretting it. I spent over four hours on it last night and found it fun, challenging and it's definitely got a 'one more turn' thing to it.
It's a light geopolitical sim with gamey and fun elements to it (sometimes you get a chicken as a rival head of state - it's genuinely hilarious in the phone calls). However, this lighter feel doesn't detract from the enjoyment of it.

The game involves staying in power, keeping your demographic groups happy, balancing the budget, building infrastructure, defending your nation, keeping up support of parliament and dealing with dynamic events. All of these combine into a genuinely challenging experience, which never plays the same each time you start a new game.
It seems solid, no bugs, and the devs updated it last night (1 day after launch).

The pricing seems about right. If you get any fun out of geopolitical sims, this is a worth a try. I may be biased as I played Shadow President, Balance of Power, Superpower 1&2 and other geosims back in the day.

Why do developers always think they have to get cute with games...I have no problem with fictional countries and situations, but throwing in a chicken as a leader of a country?  Just seems odd design choice for a game like this.  I know some people might like this stuff and the game still might be fun to play, but just boggles my mind why that can't at least keep something like this reasonably realistic...

So.... you're calling fowl on this one?

Jarhead0331

The thing that turned me away is that it is story based with set and limited endings. That seems like it will seriously limit replayability.

I think the designers were feeling cocky.

Well at least the chicken character can't be accused of being a lame duck candidate!

Grim.Reaper

See, you guys are proving my point....more being talked about the chicken then the game itself:)
