It seems there is a case for a proper, independent inquiry soon, to assess whether these guys are commonly effected by their time in the airforce, or whether this is just bad luck. If the illnesses are shown to be the result of the radiation spill, then the US government should take vicarious responsibility for the situation, as the servicemen's former employer.
The most shocking fact about war is that its victims and its instruments are individual human beings, and that these individual beings are condemned by the monstrous conventions of politics to murder or be murdered in quarrels not their own. Aldous Huxley

Shameful Black-Eye the US Air Force's reputation.
"Take a look at that". Sgt. Wilkerson-- CMBN. His last words after spotting a German tank on the other side of a hedgerow.

We are not known for our good treatment of military personnel once we are done with them. God forbid it costs money to do that and we need those shiny, new F-35s.

Call me cynical, but will they eventually take responsibility, wring their hands etc... after everyone affected has died and their estates long been administered? Not sure of the US, but the UK sometimes beats itself up after the event in those sort of circumstances. After all in those circumstances 'words' are very economical.
