Silent Disapproval Robot

I went to a 3-day game convention in Surrey, British Columbia over the weekend.  Lots of good gaming action going on there.  I tried to take it a little easier this time around as I burnt myself out at the last 3 day one I went to.  I was sort of successful?  Brain still feels like mush and I was running a fever all weekend but it was still a good time.

I got in a game of Star Wars Rebellion on Friday and enjoyed myself (very intense opponent).  Then I took part in a 10-player game of Wings of Glory: WWI but it was a heavily modded version.  It was basically biplanes and tanks vs. War of the Worlds style Martian tripods.  I played as a tripod and managed to blow up one tank and poison the crew of another.

The game ended in a draw due to time with one of four Martian walkers down for the cost of a biplane and three tanks.

On Saturday, I ran a game of Sails of Glory using a historical scenario from the website.  It ended up being a 3 vs. 3 fight.  The French line held together well and blew the hell out of the Brits with two sinks striking their colours and the third buggered off while the French suffered no losses.

Brits bear down on French line.

Brits eat concentrated broadsides.

Today, I ran a game of WWII Wings of Glory.  Three IJA Ki-61 Tonys intercept a low level USAAF bombing and strafing attack against a Japanese airfield made by a B-25 and 2 P-47s..

Interesting game.  The fighters overshot one another and had to turn and re-engage.  One Ki-61 managed to latch onto the tail of a B-25 and knock it down just as it was closing in on the target.

A Ki-61 (flown by Jack Nastyface) and a P-47 hit each other in a head-on pass.  The Ki-61 got the worst of it and was blown out of the sky.  The P-47s managed to knock down 2 of the 3 Tonys but were overcome in the end.

Big thanks to local game store Imperial Hobbies and to Ares Games for donating a ridiculous number prizes to give out and bigger thanks to Jack Nastyface and the host, Rob Bottos for making it all happen.

I still have that Wings Of Glory WW2 Starter Set.  Played it once, a couple years ago.

The one that came with the P-40F Warhawk, Ki-61-I-KAIC Hien, Reggiane RE.200 GV Falco II, and Yak-1.  Has the pic of the parked P-40s on the front of the box (2012 starter edition).  Think it's been out of print for awhile..

Probably end up Ebay'ing that in the next few months, along with the WoG "City" Game Mat.  Going to be moving next year, and I haven't been doing either WoG or SoG so may as well save some space.

If either of those are on your want list, let me know.
