Doing the research provides perspective on how music has evolved over the years.  There are some years that don't offer much but a few acknowledged masterpieces and not much else.  Some years seem to be loaded with hit after hit after hit.  And some years, just a very few really, mark a a seismic shift in the landscape.  1965 is such a year.  Gone are many of the saccharine sweet pop tunes that littered the charts in the first part of the decade.  In their place are the fruits of the flood gates that opened when the Beatles invaded.  Motown is at the peak of its hitmaking power.  And Dylan's influence is felt in more places than just the coffeehouses.  I hope I picked the most puissant offerings from such a mega year.  Enjoy!  And as always, thank you so much for following along and voting!  :bd:  :bd:  :bd:

My mother in law graduated in 66 and helped me do the picks.  I only overrode her on the 2/15 pick. 

When I read off the 1/16 matchup, my daughter yelled Beach Boys all day every day!
