Rome 2 Total War LOD removal tool updated. I might be able to play it now.

This LOD remover mod has just been updated so that the game uses the same unit models even though they still lose detail at a distance. The result is not perfect but at least I can make out unit formations now without having to use the flags. I can kinda see what the units are doing at least now. Basically units look less blended against the terrain because they are more solid due to better unit models. I think the same varied unit models are kept now instead of replacing the models with the same generic ones as you zoom out. It must be making the transition better or something. Less jarring to the eye.

It makes sense now that the modder mentions it that the game was not only removing detail but also stripping all but a generic model out from the units.  Add to that generic model that it is also a simplified one. The result is the game looking like somebody painted flat sprites 6 pixels high onto a map of similar colors.

Can I ask here if there was is a go to historical mod for rome2?
One that leaves the legion naming and upgrading system in tact.
With all the 40k imperial marine chapter lore lately for space marine2 I am getting a hankering to get back to a roman legion game.
As much as I hate rome2 it might just be the best thing out there. If not the most innovative when compared to rome1.
Odds are I will not even bother with this game after the first battle shows it just won't be a rewarding experience.

I remember for rome1 it was all about the europa baraborum mod.

I like it a lot Des. It adds a lot strategically but also is much more difficult than vanilla. Not sure how historically accurate it is but it's my, 'Go-To' mod for Rome 2 TW.

Great stuff. Might give rome2 yet another chance. Might leave the lod mod in as I am pretty sure it will not conflict.
