Holdfast nations at war is a bang up game about being a 3rd or first person Napoleonic,infantryman. You die, the community has a tonne of character over proximity voice - tonnes of people talk. It's a good time usually. Not usually toxic, but some people will kill your sacred cow occasionally and you have a tonne of mute tools for those creeps. both individual voice and server voice mute tools. Quick and easy. Most people are just having good ole role play voice coms on which I love. Man the cannons boys and such. There are little cosmetics to unlock doing daily challenges and some great mechanics to try to encourage people into line. I have been having a blast again in the 150 person servers that are default.

Now with the console release that is crossplay with PC being so successful. A free addon in coming in the guise of being "age of sail". Unfortunately a new faction was teased before this announcement and a lot of people were hoping for "spain". Because we already have, Britain, Italy, France, Austria, Russia, Prussia. The below trailer mainly feature pirates, but Spain is still being teased so there is hope. I hate pirate factions as they are always over represented in games because of hollywood depictions of them being exciting heroes rather than criminal parasites of society who preyed on defenceless 20 crew merchantmen. They certainly were not generally supporting populations or giving to the poor.

Even though Holdfast already has naval servers to compliment the land based battle mode servers, naval has never been that popular. Because it takes a long time to close and board, so most of the time you are manning and loading long range cannon to fire at an enemy ship. New age of sail mechanics in this expansion are looking to fix that I guess.

The servers are so full in the US they overflow onto the Australian server lol
