Yeah, Steam's announced that they're going to release a PC-based console.  i suspect that's the reason for the annoying new look.

Reminds me of the new PSN interface, which I hate with the passion of a thousand burning suns.

(Adds a 25Meg application to my PS3 hard drive, runs slower and chunkier than the old interface, adds almost no significant functionality; blatantly ignores customer requests for long-missing functionality which would be easy to add at no promotional loss for PSN; while degrading or removing prior functionality. The only thing I sort of like is the new rotary search engine.)

I don't have an option about using the PSN, but under no circumstances will I inflict the goofy new Steam interface upon myself--not now, and not when my new Win8 system arrives.
