GG has this for $2.50.  It appears to be a Company of Heroes clone from Square Enix.  Is it any good?  And for those who have played it, how frantic does it get with the click click click.  Can you issue  orders while paused and save mid-mission?  Both are important to me.

I bought the box version when it came out. The graphics and presentation are great. The gameplay, however is ridiculous. I recently re-installed it and played for a few hours before uninstalling. Still, for $2.50, you will probably want to give it a try. It includes skirmish missions as well. You should be aware, that the game uses the Steam client, I think even if you buy it from GG.

On Steam, they also gave me a free download of the sequel Order of War Challenge, which is multiplayer specific, although I've never installed and tried it. You may want to check the price on Steam before buying from GG.

Sorry, I didn't answer your questions: Yes, you can save at anytime. Not sure if you can pause and issue commands though, since that is something I don't normally do when playing an RTS.

As far as comparisons with COH, IMHO Order of War doesn't even come close. And it is a clickfest. One cool feature is the cinematic camera. Again, you might enjoy it for awhile. Check out the reviews here for the game when it came out, just search metacritic, I think Game Informer liked it.
