Kickstarted: So for what games did you actually hand over some money?

I've been close a few times, but I still haven't pulled the trigger.

I think my biggest disappointment with Kickstarter is what it has turned out to be. It isn't anything about actually funding new properties...nope, you wanna hit it big it's time for nostalgia. Or just pump a bunch of extra minis in to a board game box. The idea becomes completely meaningless.

Thats an interesting point.  I do see alot of what you are talking about while researching the GARPA column but then again there are some good new ideas/concepts (at least new to me) out there.  They just don't seem to get the press like the nostalgic ideas do.  Perhaps this is people being hesitant to try something new and just want to stick with what they know works and with what they know they like.

Keep in mind Kickstarter isn't about wild-eye mad scientist ideas. It's about raising money that they bank wouldn't give you. I suspect that most of the ideas being put on kickstarter (and being successfully funded) surround sound concepts. In other words, they're proposing and supporting ideas designed to make money, not gamble away other people's money.

If that's the case you'd expect to see fairly conservative concepts. Plus, not everyone can be a world class mad scientist thinking outside the box.

Have seen a few interesting board game kickstarter projects, on some there is a good resale opportunity.  The Steve Jackson Games Ogre box set and the leather bound Up Front reprints for example.

I've given money to several KS projects, mostly space games:  StarDrive, MORE, Limit Theory, and Predestination.  I was also a contributor to the wildly successful Order of the Sick reprint drive.

Good points all.  I personally think we've only seen the tip of what crowd-funding sites like Kickstarter can do, but it's an interesting conversation either way.

I've only backed 5 it seems, but after perusing their site it feels like more...

Theatre of Conflict: Crimea   Unsuccessful   
Antharion - An Old-School RPG    - Successful
Legend of Dungeon - Successful
Nexus 2: The Gods Awaken (PC & MAC)   Unsuccessful
The Return of Tom vs. Bruce - Successful

After a few brandies, I'm always more than willing to throw pennies at new indie RPG's it seems :)

I get in on the Up Front reprint and I'm chomping at the bits to get a look at all the booty that will come with it.

I think a good follow up question to the OP would be to ask, has anyone yet received any product that they have supported?  So far I haven't.  The few I have back send out irregular updates but no word on a ship date.

I have access to the Tom vs Bruce articles I supported.

Also, I have an alpha build of the indie RPG Legend of Dungeon.

That's it. It's seems I'm quite good at supporting failed Kickstarters :)

I already received the physical "booty" for the Order of the Stick reprint drive.  The delivery of the digital goods (downloadable comic PDFs) has been delayed, as creator/author Rich Burlew badly injured his drawing hand in a car accident a few months ago. 

I received early access to the StarDrive beta due to a happy mistake.  However, all KS backers are supposed to receive a Steam beta key in any case, once the open beta goes live (which is supposed to be sometime this week).

Limit Theory is the only game I've seen that has tempted me to KS. It does seem to have great potential.

I've received several to be honest.
Nearly all of them pretty much board/card games though.

And since when has Star Citizen been released?
I thought it's still under development. I have not receive any information of the game being delivered to us kickstarters.
