Jon Shafer of Civ5/Elemental fame/infamy depending on your point of view.

Looks like he has a new indie Roman era game in the works on Kickstarter.

Interesting. We'll see how this develops.

BTW, I noticed they mentioned an FE expansion.
So are we finally going to get out 2nd "free compensation reward game" we were promised with the original Elemental?

Shafer is on Three Moves Ahead this week talking about the game.  This may be the first Kickstarter project I actually put money into.

At the Gates sounds interesting.  I like how the changing environment will affect game play/players.  I'll be keeping an eye on this, but I've already over-extended myself on kickstarter and investing in other alphas.  I don't think I'll be getting in on ATG unless it goes down to the wire...which doesn't look likely since he's already at 30% in a day.  I'll probably pick it up next year for sure...

Regardless of how good a PC game may be it will always have its detractors and no matter how bad a PC game may be it will always have its fans.

And he has a Kickstarter project for a new 4X civ-like game, where you play the barbarians invading the Roman Empire:

He's already at $31K. Looks like he'll be exceeding his goal of $40K by tomorrow...

A cool premise, but I don't care for the disappearing resources -- however realistic that may be, I've never enjoyed it as a gameplay mechanic.  Still, I wish him success!
