Apple agrees to accept wargame if doesn't include war or game.

Nice article.

Coincidentally I was having an Apple 1984-themed discussion with Daughter #1 a couple of days ago.

I was chuckling about the irony of the famous Apple commercial run during the Superbowl where the rebel runs in on an Orwellian rally and smashes the TV screen to liberate everyone.

These days Apple's claim to fame is a silicon-based gilded cage of an iOS.

How ironic that they chose to debut with the claim that they would be rebels when they really turned out to be Big Brother.

What they realized is that the computer users they were selling to back then were pretty savvy.  The ones today are pretty stupid, hence the need to have their functionality spoon-fed to them.  We can laugh about how closed-loop their system is, but for people less tech-savvy than this forum, it is a great attraction to just plug stuff in and have it work.

The other thing that no one wants to admit to is that Apple got legal digital distro of music opened to the masses, and that never would have happened without the DRM they were able to put on it.

Really ?
so the fact that sales went down the drain because of new ways of distributing them easy and free got nothing to do with it ?
Im fairly sure the industry would have been forced to come up with their own standard sooner or later or gone bankrupt.

I will give props to them on two accounts.
1) its really easy to use an apple machine if you dont have any skills
2) they really did revolutionize the industry.

But seriously what have they done lately ?

Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.
