DCS World is a new, free, combat simulation. DCS World provides a free-to-play Su-25T ground attack aircraft with unlimited online restrictions. The purchase of additional DCS modules allows the player to have careers as pilots of the A-10C Warthog, KA-50 Black Shark attack helicopter, P-51D Mustang, or armor vehicle commander. Oddly, I just saw an article in my local newspaper that stated there was a group in government trying to bail on the F-35 because they felt it was unnecessary and costs $169 million a plane!

They are cool looking though! And DCS is likely to provide a fairly accurate simulation for them, given their track record.

It may end up something like the Comanche. Made for a great sim but the real aircraft got cancelled.

Although one of the issues with the F-35 is the effort to make it "cancel-proof". The production of the plane is splattered all over the country (read congressional districts) and a lot of people would lose jobs across the country if the project is cancelled. Eisenhower was right..........

Here in Phoenix it was announced yesterday that Luke AFB will be the primary training base for the F-35 and will receive around 144 of the planes. It will be interesting to see if that happens or not.

I'm pretty sure that has been the plan for a while now. It would make sense since it is already a big training base for the F-16. Where are you at in the valley? I'm down in Chandler.

It will be interesting to see if it makes 120 degrees over there this weekend. Enjoy...

Given that there will be a lot of classified stuff on this since the aircraft is new (not even operationally ready)... how are you sure that the simulation will be accurate?

I live near Thunderbird and 43rd Ave in Phoenix. And Jarhead, I'm not sure that "interesting" is the right word for 120 degrees, ha! But it's only 117 right now, so far so good 8)

Yeah.. I was under the impression that DCS didn't want to feature fully-functioning 'pit sims for aircraft which still have their systems heavily classified. Seeing as this may be an outsourced dev job, perhaps that gets around it. Or it'll be of Flaming Cliffs-level modelling (which I'm okaky with)?

The real F-35 probably flies like an xbox game with all computer assisted controls and dampeners not to mention directional control nozzle.

What's more interesting is how dcs models it's stealth profile against SAMS in dcs world. I mean is it gonna be like wonder woman's invisible jet ?......I'll buy it and fly it....why not.

DCS F-15E would the ultimate aircraft for me. If that ever comes out, I would fly nothing else.

I'd like to see more early jets for DCS. It seems Thirdwire has given up on the PC. It would be great to see some LOMAC level flight models for everything from the 40's on to cold war machines.

Imagine if we could get enough airframes along with a stable platform to get 50+ people in a game with a commander directing us to complete objectives....wow. Acting out our own Red Storm Rising. :)

Technically, this would already be possible in DCS World as it is now.
You just lack the units and theatre. Yeah, just a small detail, I know! ;) But I mean the cmdr part is already possible.

We already do this on weekends or scheduled fly'ins at simHq.

Dcs is becoming the aviation sandbox that arma is for infantry combat. Only a matter of time before more Vietnam era planes and theater arrive. My problem is I want everything now....I'm so impatient.
