Charity Bike Ride

Hey fellow wargaming peeps

I'm doing a charity bike ride today for Colchester Hospitals Charity - CoHoc (http://www.cohoc.org.uk/)

It's a 75 mile ride starting at 08:00 called Essex and Castles (http://www.bike-events.co.uk/Ride.aspx?id=376). I'm hoping to complete it in less than 5 hours though realistically with water stops it'll be more than that I guess.

We've been having brilliant weather in the UK and typically it's meant to throw it down (rain heavily) late morning early afternoon...so I'm likely gonna get drenched.

Anyway - if any of you have any spare cash kicking about and feel like rather than giving it to Ronald McDonald you could do something good with it, feel free to drop it on my JustGiving page here

I've finished - well, I finished in 4hrs 40mins - so bang on for 16mph avg which I'm pleased about. Also - there was no rain - it was pretty damned hot!!

A couple of "episodes"
* In the first 10 miles, I had a flat. Rear wheel too!! What's even more annoying is I've not had a puncture in over a year!
* Second thing was 50 miles in, I was going downhill on a country lane, about 30mph...and a fly got stuck in my helmet. I move my head around to try and get the wind to help it out - but it seemed to get stuck - then the bastard started to sting me - it was a freakin wasp! So I'm trying to slow down from 30mph and look for somewhere safe to pull over so I can get this damned thing out my helmet!!

I don't care what function Mother Nature has for wasps - I want them all dead! Dead - you hear me?

Anyway - no rain, puncture, wasp stinging ma heed and I've lost the use of my pinky at the moment (no - not my penis - my little finger!)

Thanks again for the wishes and donations - it makes it worth while.

I'm stiff as a board now - and I know in "athlete's world" beer is not normally the cool down liquid - but it's the one I'm using....good nights gents...you're a great bunch  :)

Oh - on the photos thing - sorry, I don't actually stop on these rides (except for the required refreshment stops) so didn't get any photos...but here's one of the end (I know it says start - but the other side said finish and I'm sitting there having a very nice ice cream!)

Though I see there's a chunk where it didn't record properly...that explains why my bike computer has different stats - so here is the proper stats from my bike computer

Max Speed 37.63mph
Avg Speed 14:88

I'm not too disappointed with the Avg Speed. There were some tough climbs in that ride - and I'm a fat bastard at 19 stone!

Glad everything went well JD, well except for the wasps.  I agree they should all be killed.
