I don't ever recall him denying it.  I recall something much more like what Matt wrote about (see link in #48) where he wasn't advertising it, but not really hiding the fact that they gamed out the scenarios first.

There's an un-named guy to whom the original printing of the book is dedicated on one of the first few pages.  That guy is actually a regular attendee at the NDU/CASL roundtables and an occasional presenter.

In re the Vampire games, he repeatedly said he had no memory of such a game.  There were about fifteen local gamers from the DC area who participated.  Running into a few later at a book signing, he flatly denied any such memory.  It's been years, but believe I can find Sam and Paul to back this up.

MiG Pilot is a damn good read.  I'm kind of surprised it was never made into a movie.
