Steam offline? PC/Mac?

Hey guys,

Does anyone know off the top of their head whether Steam games can be played offline or not if I'll be away from internet for a few weeks?

Also does steam have a lot of games out for Mac or is it mostly PC?

You can play off line. But you must first be online to go offline....  ^-^ O0 So plan ahead...

So like you'd DL the game, then for the next month if I can't get internet I can play it offline? Is that what you mean?

Download and run it once before switching to offline mode.  I'd also recommend starting Steam in offline mode in an area where you still have Internet access before you leave just to make sure it works.  Sometimes Steam "forgets" that its set to offline mode and if that happens you're screwed until you can connect again in order to tell it that you want offline mode.  Steam really sucks for this.

Still modding Distant Worlds but have been wanting to play Batman - Arkham Asylum since 2009.

Am now considering going over to the darkside and installing Steam as the DVD on the PC needs GFWL and it would appear due to GFWL going the way of the Dodo one route is to install Steam and buy the GOTYE on there.

Could buy a 360 with the price drops, but as the 360 Elite 250GB is going for 110 it really is not much of a drop, it was 200 new, on the plus side I can pick the game up for a fiver, and the sequels for a few pounds more.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions  ???

I've had Steam toss a fit after having it continuously in offline mode for a long stretch, and require me to eventually log in.  I think it took about 2 weeks but can't recall.

Not sure if that's still the case.

Completely off-topic, but I like your sig Endfire.  If I remember rightly Batman manages to dispose of the shark, but then delivers a lecture about the poor animal being exploited by criminals

Does anyone know when the next steam sale will be?is it Christmas?

They usually have a sale around Thanksgiving then the big holiday sale comes in December through the end of the year.
