5am, the assault jumps off.  Both sides spend dispatch points for activating two formations next turn.  For the 90th Light, this might mean bringing in reinforcements to aid KG Baade.  The Motorized Brigade pulls its direct command chit and unleashes 10 command moves including some amazing artillery barrages:

7 AM.  KG Baade's response in the Divisional move is restricted by the fire zone projected by the captured Italian SP artillery (though as HE indirect projecting a fire zone it is only 3 hexes).  The "Region Dite en V" to the north is the V formed by two of the giant defensive minefields that defined the 8th Army's position.  Bir Hakeim is at the extreme southern end of the minefields.  South of Bir Hakeim there was only an unmined stretch of thousands of miles of unmined Africa.

The Allies pull three chits in a row and the last is Direct Command.  Expending 8 points (2 for artillery, six for assaults), the battalion of the Motorized Brigade wipes out KG Baade's most western AT gun position and its defending infantry company.  Captured Italian armor drives in and a lot of the KG is now relatively paralyzed by armored fire zones:
